Anybody have a source for the best carbon ceramic pads for steel brakes? Thanks.

Love my CCB, there was an adjustment coming from steelies in my 14 m5, but I'm used to them now. The bite is ferocious on initial application... less linear progression so you have to think about those behind you. Have my wheels coated so the minimal brake dusk is not an issue.

Make sure to break-in (bedding in) the carbon ceramics.

The two F90s I have purchased both have CCB and so I can only compare to the dealer’s M5 I have driven with steel and the same feel to me, mushy in comparison. The CCBs are much more grabby to the point my wife coming from her M550 doesn’t like them because she keeps putting herself through the windshield. Takes her time to get used to it which is good for me so she doesn’t like driving my M5. |

Trevor - you don’t have a car with ceramic brakes. In fact - you don’t even have an M5. You have no idea what you are talking about. Clear enough?

When I attend BMW school the instructors told me for them M5 steel or CCB brake point during the taxi runs are the same, so whatever CCB's advantage is negligible.
Frankly they weren't high on F10 M5's CCB. Maybe it's different for F90 but I haven't gone to BMW school to ask them, have moved on to open wheel school since then. |

Sold on CCBs
I was VERY nervous to get CCBs on my 2014 F10 M5 Competition. heard they squeaked, would get damaged easily, would crack when wheels removed, ruined by armor all or other car products, and don't work when wet. All of that is BS. Have 5 years of flawless, quiet, clean operation, zero problems, and look awesome. Will be getting them on my 2021 LCI replacement F90 car for sure.

I got CCBs on my F90, my F10 had steel brakes. The stopping power on the F90 is sooo much better. The breaks are really sensitive, it seems they apply quite a bit of stopping power even with a light pedal press, compared to the F10, but I got used to it after a couple of stops.
I can't compare steel vs ceramics on the F90, but I can compare CCBs on F90 vs steel on the F10 - it's night and day difference. I could feel brake fade on the F10 after a couple hard stops and I have to press the pedal much harder for serious braking. I took the F90 through a mountain pass recently, where there was little to no traffic, so I was able to take some corners quite fast and I was more than pleased with the stopping power and consistency of the CCBs. Pretty sure the steels would've faded on a few occasions. Also absolutely no noise from my CCBs and no dust either. Drove through a couple of torrential downpours too (people were actually pulling over due to poor visibility), even some light hail and I didn't feel any decrease in stopping power when wet. Personally I wouldn't buy another car without CCBs, totally worth the money for me.

Interesting thread. With the exception of maybe three posts, this is a collection of people justifying their decision to buy, or not buy, ccbs.
Op, drive both, back to back. oops ...just realized this thread is old |

I was at the Thermal, Ca driving school and the instructors like the CCB, but for the M5, they couldn't get parts out of Germany fast enough, so the CCB M5s were sitting and we couldn't drive them.
