Piston head clearly failed to make any sense on why they did not bring an E63 S. The CTS V is sold in 2 or 3 places in the world, the rest of the world, we have to make do with the E63 S and the M5, therefore we want comparos between the two cars we can actually buy at some point. Lastly, using the Motortrend comparo to represent which car is better between CTS V and E63 S is just pathetic, as in that comparo, the E63 S had some obvious brake problems (its braking was way off when compared to any other mags). Therefore they just completely missed the mark.

Coming to the subject of which is better between E63 S and M5 F90, there have been 2 or 3 people who owned or driven both come forward and a couple of comparos. It appears in the chassis, BMW has found a better compromise between ride, fun and possibly handling (although AMG has had higher skidmarks and quicker figure 8's so far). The AMG on the other hand has hands down the best engine. Let's see what is what. Both are impeccable, and I can't wait to drive an M5 F90 when it arrives on my side of the pond. It will probably be the car to replace my M6 GC, an year from now.

I might own a GM automobile right now if I didn't despise their CUE telematics system.

When i drove CTS-V... you had to be an absolute moron to miss pathetic in your face transmission. It should not and does not belong to a car that cost $40K or whatever they sell CTS-V for.

On the other hand... GM has nailed magnetic dampers... hats off to them for that.

haven't tested the latest version (which thankfully adds some physical buttons and knobs) but the older gen was completely unacceptable. I would have an escalade for the family mobile today were it not for CUE.

The Caddy's ho-hum wheel design just might have met its match.

I might own some GM vehicles too if they didn't come with the stigma of utterly poor reliability associated with the brand.

Never driven a cts v... but the ats v to me was a joke... the engine sounded like a dyson vacuum, the tranny had to have been chinese, the cue and center dash was fit for a cavalier... oh and the build quality was tragic... i drive it 2 miles and left soon after.

Growing up in the US, I have NEVER wanted a Caddy. Ever. They were the "geriatric" car of my youth, and have morphed into a company without a discernible direction or tradition to leverage.

I am sure the CTS-V can be a fun car and that engine has to be cool...but I still have no desire to get one. It might be the best thing since sliced bread, but I really wouldn't stop and look at any of their offerings. Just like I wouldn't stop and look at any GM offerings.

Not being facetious here - I have yet to ever have a "true" or "real" problem with any of my BMWs. Little things, sure. But anything of consequence? No...I have owned 7 myself, and we have owned 11 as a family. From 2000 - present.

My pops had a CTS between his E46 and Z4MC...it ranks in the top 3 of worst cars the family has EVER owned. The number of things that went wrong with that thing are too numerous to mention - it was truly a piece of shit.

Performance aside, the German will age better. Show me both a caddie and BMW from20 years ago and let’s compare aesthetics and quality.

Your anecdotal experience is not really reality.

Perhaps...but to ME, I wouldn't bother with a Cadillac. Because experience has taught me to trust German brands more than American (VW, Audi, Porsche, BMW, and Mini in the family = 0 major issues).

And anecdotal evidence is quite compelling when you're aware of it at a personal level.

Coming from 1st hand experience with VAG products they routinely have issues as well. I’ve lemon lawed a couple of them BMW I have had 13 of them “all bought new” 3 have been bought back 1998 328i, 2005 E46 ZHP, 2010 550 ( with only 700 miles on the odo) MINI’s have their issues as well. The only car out of the ones you mentioned with a solid reliability rating is Porsche - namely 911’s.

I grew up with Cadillac’s . interior quibbles (namely the Tech GUI) aside the driving dynamics are not remotely in the same universe of what was produced from ....umm ever... Mattter of fact, those who want plush riding BarcaLounger’s would likely be turned off.

I previously owned 2 DTS; 1 Escalade myself. Currently have a CTS Vsport in the stable as well. It’s a bonafide sleeper.

the cadi can have the better chasis i dont care theyre both pigs anyways. if someone wants a track car there is a better use of 100k+. the m5 is just a superior car in every way except sound. the interior, paint, build quality, straight line speed(seriously 640hp in the ctsv and slower than last gen e63 and m5).

If I include all the VAG products individually, it's closing in on 20 cars in about 20 years (23 if you include Ducati). Nothing remotely significant - ever. And that's adding in the BMW/Mini side - this isn't to be argumentative, but I wouldn't get out of bed to drive a Cadillac...or GM product.

Why switch from something you've personally had good experience with? I know I won't - but that's just me.

40k ?

Try 90k. You only missed by a bit.

Good point though... CTS-V is a better buy than the M5. As is the Corvette Z06.

To be honest, I would probably choose neither if I was looking for a hundred thousand dollar toy/track car.
