They should deduct $125K for the idiotic pin striping. Seriously? Who does that?

I remember buying my first car and the dealer had just put pinstripes on the car and I had them removed. The guy who had just put them on was not happy.

Mmmm... I thought about this a little bit more. Though BMW is not on the level of Porsches, Ferraris, Mclaren and Lambos... this is their Top Performance car and their first attempt at the "Supercar" market. Include this with a very limited production and you will have a 75% markup. The M4 GTS is very rare and those who have been BMW fans with the money will jump on this. Sure you can get any of the supercars for 250K, but it's gonna be an available production car AND it's not gonna be their top of the line which they call "hypercars".

I don't think any of us saw this coming... 100K is still pretty crazy.

It's all about exclusivity. And for the price, even $30k over it's still more exclusive and interesting than many other cars being mentioned. In Bellevue (across the lake from Seattle) for example, a GTS will bet parked out front of the Bravern while shopping over a 3rd or 4th red 458. Shit, when I had my Frozen Silver M3 it would get a good spot because it was unique.

The GTS is a connoisseurs car. And people in the know, know that. The ratio of people in Ferraris and Lamborghinis where the car is an accessory/fashion item will vastly outnumber the GTS buyers who see it this way. And this will keep the prices up. It's the same way a Speciale is to a base 458.

There's no fucking pin stripes on that car or any of the cars on that shithole car lot! They like to list the line item so that some rich jackass with more money than sense does not notice (or care) and pays for something that does not exist.

What's worse is I saw that mediocre new Acura NSX at a local Cars and Coffee about a month back. $157k msrp, $43k in carbon brakes and like 2-3 other options. Then $50k mark up. $250k as well, for the new Acura NSX.

So I guess all the dealers receiving the 150 M4 GTS in the states will be under investigation? Might as well throw all the Ford dealers getting the GT350R and all the Acura dealers getting the new NSX in the mix as well.

Right! if they can do it to the gas jockeys they can teach the dealer thief's. BMW might as well just taken then to Barrett Jackson and sold them.

People that spend that much over aren't stupid. Addicted, but not stupid. They already have the Lamborghini, RS 4.0; etc. just adding to the collection.

No; they're fucking morons. The fact that one has the means to spend $$$$$ does not recuse them from absolute unequivocal stupidity. ANYONE that spends $250K for an M car is a certified moron.

What about someone who spends $30k to fly from Seattle to LA on their private jet when a ticket on Alaska Airlines costs $300?

The median American income is $54k. That means half the population makes less. Those that do think most people on this thread are stupid and fucking morons for spending $80k on a car.

It's all relative...

You are getting something special when flying private jet that someone flying Alaska Airlines isn't getting. You are not getting anything special when you pay a $100K markup for a BMW. Bad analogy.

If you spend $80K (or msrp) for a car it just means you are in a different socioeconomic class than someone earning $54K per year. You have paid market price for a car. Nothing more nothing less.

If you earn $54K per year and do not have significant liquidity/other assets and you buy an $80K car, you are a certified fucking moron as well.

It'd not "all relative"......like I said, even if you are Richard Branson rich and you spend $250K on this car, you aren't very bright. Rich, yes.......but dumber than a shovel.
