ROOF TRIM

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hello
I recently had the windscreen replaced (see my other posts) got the car back and the roof trim do not look as though it had been replaced correctly.
Tonight I noticed that it had come loose.
Not the best photo, but it appears the fixing has com me unstuck.
Can you get replacement fixing? And if so, what is the reference for them?
Thanks in advance [IMG][/IMG]

I had the same thing on mine. Looks like the same location - passenger side just above the rear glass. I've seen a couple posts about this - apparently those trim pieces on the carbon fiber roof are prone to this. Not sure how it works in the UK, but in the US the dealer wants you to come in for a visual inspection so they can determine which pieces to order, and then go back a second time for the repair.

Thank you. I'm at the dealer next week for a service, so will get them to look at it.

i had the same problem on mine as i ppf'ed roof trim along with the roof. A single clip came undone on one side towards the rear window causing black trim to lift up a bit. After inspection i realized that bmw simply didnt use strong enough sealant.. i cleaned the surface really well and then applied 3m adhesion promoter then 3m automotive double side tape.. since then i've had no issue in hot or cold temps. Give that a try..

Same thing happened to me. I took it to the dealer, they told me to come back. I just used gorilla glue double sided tape and was done with it. Took 2 minutes. Not worth the hassle of going back to the dealer and dropping it off.

we had the same problem. the issue is, bmw now uses two sides tape to hold the clip to the CF. the two sided tape comes loose, and ends up popping up the trim. it's fucking archaic. you can see the tape in the first picture stuck to thw CF.

if dealer won't fix, remove the two sided tape on the CF, clean it nicely, then put strong glue.

i think the best way is to just pull it up slowly. worst case is you will break the clips, i wouldn't worry too much about breaking the trim itself.

why are you wanting to remove it?

take it to them as is, and show them it's coming loose. they will most likely put new clips (with the two sided tape). it will remedy the problem. hopefully it will stay, if not, glue..
