This is bad...

No wonder their chief designer got fired. it's a FAIL for me.
I'm sorry but other than the seats this thing is really bad.
The exterior is really bad, barely any difference from f10.
but the rear takes the cake. those lights are from the 90's and what about those exhaust tips. cmon already, this is the fking M5, give us something nice dammit.
Yes it will be fast as BMW engineering is rocking it but design is at "honda level".
It just got release and already looking forward to the LCI, hopefully the LCI will give it that little spice it needs to make it acceptable somewhat.
sorry just my opinion.

Looks awesome, hopefully the M3 follows its design cues.

No surprises hereas we've done some pretty spot-on renders based on the leaked CAD drawings ;-). http://g30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1323081

Now what about a Touring version?

It needs to be revolutionary, the competition isn't backing down. This new M5 seems to have taken a very, very small step forward. It won't cut it for me this time again.

The only way I'll be in this car is if the lease is under 1300

otherwise it's off to AMG. which i know is going to be a royal pain in the ass to lease because MBFS sucks

I love it! Now I wait patiently until 2020 to grab one in the used market.

Agree with those saying that the styling is what was expected for a car of this type...the M5 has always been more subdued than the M3, IMO.

Personally like it, for what it is. Will definitely be considering when my current daily lease is up.

I don't get the immediate bowing to this by many with comments like 'sex" or "nailed it." If by "sex," you mean the same missionary only position with the same person for 60 years straight, then sure, bmw "nailed it."

If the pics are accurate, this has to be the most boring M ever devised. There is zero notable distinctions from a regular 5 series. With a complete failure for a transmission choice, I'm not getting the love. This is more boring than the new Audi releases.

F10 design looks better (especially the rear).........although the new model will have more tech and toys to use.

We'll see....

I think maybe the color and angles just dont show the flares well, but it looks like some decent fender flares when viewing the car from the rear three quarter view. I looks like the front fenders are nicely flared and the rears are muscular in general.

I dont want something overly obnoxious though. If i wanted something looking boy racerish i wouldnt be looking at an executive sedan in the first place.

Don't know what you expected. Once we all saw the G30, the basic design language was set. That's why I'm not surprised with this reveal. I still find it to be a nice improvement over the F10. Current 8 series prototype shows where BMW wants to go, but it's going to be awhile before that trickles down the line. If anything BMW should have been more aggressive with the current 5 series and upcoming 3 series instead of just following the current 7 series.

Not to derail this thread but is the m6 now dead after the 17? Are there any plans for a new model in a couple years?

It's ok though, you can see on the steering wheel close up that there's a button that turns it into an M2.

Yup I saw that, it can either transform into an M2 or M1.

Conservative compared to?

Front Fender Arch Flare Increase (each side):

F82 + 18mm
F80 + 28mm
F90 + 30mm

The only 4 door ///M to ever have rear arch extensions is the F80. It makes the assembly very time consuming as the production line has to stop for tooling swap and rework so F80's are built in batches to minimize the impact as much as possible.
