Volume Gesture ControlNot Working After Software Update

I just picked-up my car a few hours ago from a two (2) recall inspection. A software update for the rear camera issue (which I had no perceived problems) and a tranny harness issue (parts are now back ordered - again no perceived problem).

Anyway, my Volume Gesture control only works, for only a second or so, about 1 out of 30 attempts. i’ve checked that it is selected in iDrive.

Has anyone experienced this?

My gesture control stopped working well after the last software update.
I primarily use the custom gesture two finger control and it barely works now, where as before the problem was that it would go off accidentally if my hand was in the right spot.

Aren't those software versions just for bluetooth and telephone?
Software version number is held in your car key and looks something like S15A-19-11-555
You can ask your SA to print out your key data at any BMW dealership
Not much help with your problem though!

I’m not exactly sure where the version is stored. However, I did speak with SA yesterday and I do have to take it back in once the back ordered part(s) arrive to repair the transmission harness recall. At that time, I’ve requested that the problem be addressed. Thanks guys!

I just had my 1.2k service and had them turn off the gesture controls. I guess I talk with my hands too much cuz it picked up on all kinds of stuff I didn't want it to. My car is a 2020 and didn't require any updates but the gesture control worked all the time. Not sure where your positioning your hands but it worked best when my hand was further away from the radio than I thought it should be.

The backup camera update totally hosed my gesture control - massively pissed as I used the two finger motion to cycle through music. To top it all off the backup camera update has made the function almost unusable as well - I can't change contrast and brightness at all.

Before the update, I used it every time I drove. Now, it doesn’t do anything at all! I fully expect BMW to fix this issue as it always worked and I obviously paid for it.

On a side note, I re-coded (via the Carly tool) to put settings back the way I like it and I searched for the capability to modify the Gesture features - couldn’t find nada!

Here ya go. It’s not showing much of the wood, but it’s the best I have on-hand.

I had to turn off gesture control after software was updated with the recall service. Mine would change tracks/radio stations every few minutes randomly on its own. Not related to any movement so far as I could tell. I never really use it anyways so didn't bug me after I turned it off.

Damn! I’m finding mine is just unresponsive for the most part.

On a side note - the 7-Preset buttons are now start to act squirrelly too. Of course I had to reset them after the update but they’re just not behaving normally. And The #7 button won’t let me set it to anything.

If I don’t get satisfaction from the dealer, do I reach out to BMWUSA for escalation Of the issue?

Nightmare is this!

Mines randomly stopped working on my 68 reg M5 (UK). I used to love it, volume and track switching.

The only thing thats changed is that Ive had the car into Litchfield for a remap - surely that cant have screwed it up…

I checked the BMW software website, Im fully up to date and my warranty expired 1 week ago.
