I guess it's a comparison.

After charger lost rolling race I skimmed through track, charger is a show off pig of a car vs a chefs knife m5 cs

As they said. Inside it's a 30k charger, outside it's outdated with cool fender flares

Overall a stupid comparison except drag and roll races.
I would chose m550 over this charger any day, not even mentioning m3

The color combination is definitely interesting but not really my favorite… makes it a little easier for me to turn down one that was offered to me. I'm sure it'll be a great car for some folks though.

If it doesn't sell and goes for a discount I may grab one. ?

If it doesn't sell? You can't even get one right now. No allocations. Pretty sure it's selling just fine.

I'm sure it disturbs you to think of all the peasants who actually consider the M5 a boring looking car, and who would prefer a Hellcat anything over it. I think the M5 is a great looking car, but part of its appeal is that it's understated. Lots of people don't like understated cars, especially cars that are supposed to be fun.

Look, nobody is pretending Dodge Hellcats are quality pieces of hand-crafted heirloom-quality craftsmanship. Nor are they pretending these cars are qualified dance partners for sublime track day sessions. What they are saying, rather proving, is that for half the price of this CS you can get a car that's nearly as fast from a roll and can plaster a smile across anyone's face.

Nobody should be surprised that an M5 CS can take it to school on a racetrack, so I'm not sure why you're so determined to point that out? Those cars are about having fun, and their sales success demonstrates they do that well.

Relax and be happy while we still have gasoline burning enthusiast cars. Live and let live! Soon we'll all be stuck choosing which suppository-shaped electron storage device we begrudgingly command to drive us around.

Here we go again. A modified comp does not a CS make. Hard stop end of story not even worth debating.

What I hate is this artificial scarcity that BMW has created with these CS models. It's like a self-fulfilling prophecy.

BMW Person 1: Let's withhold a few goodies from the normal versions of our cars so we can make a more expensive CS model.

BMW Person 2: They won't be a good value and many people won't buy them at those prices.

BMW Person 1: What if we artificially cap production to create faux exclusivity and FOMO.

BMW Person 2: Brilliant!
Somewhat true. I do know and am in contact with many engineers at Garching and staff of M division. They put a little more of their heart into those models believe me. The reigns from the upper chain get loosened a bit for these. It's simply not "bolt ons".

Cool video. Not surprised with the results - IMO pick up a used $65k F90 and you'll still smoke all types of Hellcats this side of a Challenger Demon or something crazy like that. I like Hellcats but they are really only great for theater and that's about it.

Very impressive bmw that m5 cs down 130 hp takes down the redeye at the one thing it's good at straight line racing. My God though 140 grand whoa there's a 50 k price difference between these 2 machines. I wanted a late model m5 at one point but after I saw the reliability issues with that motor I went for the m3 seems like almost what ever company makes a straight 6 it's there most reliable engine. That redeye engine 6.2 will last twice as long as that m v8 4.4L period

for sure, have to agree there. Those american motors are bulletproof. if i had to build a car, it would be an american motor. I had a C7Z06, and i beat the dogpiss out of that thing for 3 years, never 1 issue. Just endless rear tires..

I'm talking about a specific example at a local dealer … I didn't even ask about an M5 and they offered me the M5CS so I'm thinking the market in my area isn't super hot for one… it might sit for a little while.

There aren't any that I know of either. Never heard of it. I don't know what he is talking about.

Oh I see. I don't know how many people will be buying it from the lot. But the dealer won't use many allocations for the lot. Most of these cars are being built by the customer and will be sold to them.

I had a regular Hellcat Charger a few years ago. I was in somewhat of a "Buy American" mode, because Americaaaa...F*ck Yeah!!

Anyway, the Hellcat was fun for what it was. A shiny, loud piece of Americana. Scaring people when starting the car was fun. Smoking tires was at times very fun, but continuously failing to get traction from a dig was why I ultimately got rid of it.

If it had AWD, would I still be driving it? That is a tough call.

iam not trying to steal the op post nor 'hate' on bmw love my m3. I just did alot of research for about 5 months off and on between the m3 and m5 with that said that 4.4 scared me a bit I don't think you should have that idea or notion in your head that your 100k plus sedan that you drove somewhat spirited from time to time could very well need major maintenance or a new motor before 70 k miles. Iam not talking a head gasket or a valve cover gasket or and a crank hub that you should upgrade cuz you know you are taking it to the track and it could be a failure point. Iam talking rod bearings chew thru the crank , valve failures and so on. I don't care who makes it if you spend that much on a well rounded performance sedan you should be able to at least get a 150k outta that motor and there's a number of m5 owners that didn't. I have no clue how this new era of the m5 will hold up maybe it will be a shining star then I would have confidence to get a used late model m5 comp we will see .....

I can say Ive never heard of Hellcat motor problems, and there are many more out there than M5 motors so a hard comparison to make with available data, I had a C63 with the real 6.2 V8 later I was surprised to hear of long term issues, sometimes us car guys trade up/out early before we really learn about reliability, doe BMW offer a factory extended warranty, I bought one for my Raptor, from Ford, so Im covered for the entire amount of time I plan on owning

I like the Hellcat, specifically the wide body Charger version. Would I give up my F90 to take its place, no. It’s apples to peaches in almost every aspect, but I respect it for what it is. Rwd, big motor, loud and obnoxious, meaty looking…it’s a cool car. I wouldn’t mind having one in the stable, alongside the M5.
