M5 carbon fiber engine cover pricing discrepancies

So I ordered this with my car. I realize it gets put on in the port. On my build sheet it says- ZK0 MPP carbon fiber engine cover $3730

Then I find one on the BMW shopping website for $2387.00

https://www.shopbmwusa.com/product/6...--CARBON-FIBER

And of course IND has it for $3670.00

https://ind-distribution.com/product...n-engine-cover

Somebody here knows the difference between these three and why there’s a price discrepancy. Maybe even the guy from IND I don’t know. Can someone please explain to me what it is I am getting compared to what else is out there? Or are all three of these the same thing? Thanks

What I THINK they are pricing there on shopbmw is just the expansion kit pieces for sale not the main piece, even though pic also shows latter. Both IND and your build sheet are priced with everything.

OP, if you’re looking for better pricing check with GetBMWparts.com. I paid $2800 for the Engine Cover + Extension Set.

I appreciate that but thats not what I’m looking for. I’m just trying to figure out the discrepancies here. Somethings missing or more than likely. I’m not reading it correctly.

It’s sold as a 2 sets - Center Piece + Extension Set (3 additional pieces). The Build Sheet and the IND include all pieces while the Shop BMW only includes the extension set.

That’s two of you now that have said the same thing. I love this place. Thank you so much for your help. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t getting screwed on pricing and it seems I’m not. I appreciate you guys.

Last comment … not sure what your definition of “screwed” is but, if you’re open to buying these pieces on your own, I would steer you to GetBMWparts as they were significantly less expensive than the options you’re weighing. I went this route and saved quite a bit.

Good luck!

I noticed this too. I don't know why it's more to get it port-installed. Is it some kind of hidden labor charge? I thought about getting all of this stuff after delivery (particularly MPE) to save money, but I realized I was kidding myself. I am far too lazy to mess with it and prefer someone who does the installs of the CF and MPE all day, every day to someone around here.

The prices all look the same to me give or take a couple hundred dollars which I suspect is labor charges. I’m OK with what BMW is charging me now. I just wanted some clarification. You guys did an awesome job with that. I appreciate it.

I did the majority of CF pieces ( Mirror Caps , skirts and Center Rear diffuser) and the MPE as Port-installed.

I purchased the MPP Front Lip, CS Rear Spoiler and CF engine pieces from GetBMWparts.

There was no way to get the MPP Front-Lip as a port-installed option if I did not get the MPP Rear spoiler with it. When I decided I wanted the CS CF Spoiler, I was left with no choice.

I decided to go GetBMWparts for the CF Engine Pieces due to the savings and very simple install (5-10 minutes).

I do like that CS spoiler. It looks like the Pro spoiler but a bit more refined/smooth. I just got the MPP one. They force the MPP pairing with between the spoiler and splitter due to aerodynamics, right? IIRC, they also have to code something to accommodate it. Definitely one of those "what?" moments like the disabling of Lane Assist with some of the metallic individual paints.

Very similar build with a few differences. Funny thing is we both ended up at $157k. I got the all-weather mats, though. I didn't put much thought into those and wonder if I'll end up regretting them.

In Florida I would never need the all weather mats. If I lived up north, and was going to use the car in the winter, there’s no doubt I would get those.

Also in case there was any doubt.. When it comes to the engine cover and extension sets — if you can get it cheaper yourself — go that route. It’s probably harder to set your M1/M2 buttons than it is to install them. It’s literally pop-on/pop-off. The only experience you need is having hands.

Uhm it's the other way around, you can get the splittery without the spoiler, can't get the pro spoiler without the splitter😅 don't believe me? Here's the current options on my car because the spoiler wasn't added since it was out of stock when my order was placed. (Car is locked now so have to wait until 150 status to add it)

Nope they don't force the pairing unless you get the spoiler, you can get the splitter on its own. And yes according to the vpc it changes the dsc coding apparently to take into account the extra downforce. What exactly is changed or what it does I don't know but they say they do something lol.

Trust me I tried .. not sure if this has changed since I ordered my car but it I was told it was not possible.

Not a big deal, you can get it much cheaper elsewhere which is what I did and I was able to pair with the CS rear spoiler.

No they don’t overlap/cover or have any issues.

If you look at your list of parts, one item, says, “Carbon fiber, front splitters”

On my order form, it says “Z17 MPP Carbon Fiber Frnt Splitter $3,005”

Help me understand this. I’m assuming, and this had better be the case, that front splitter also includes the front lip in one big kit? In other words, it’s going to cover the entire bottom of the front of the car? It had better for $3000. Lol. I thought splitters were just on the sides of the front of the car. Correct me here please. Educate me.
