F90 oil filter question

I’m curious, does anyone know the difference between these two F90 M5 oil filters P/N 11-42-7-848-321 versus 11-42-5-A33-C43?

Some places are selling the 11-42-7-848-321 as correct for a 2023 F90 M5 and others say only use the 11-42-5-A33-C43. Also, I see service invoices posted showing the 11-42-7-848-321 filter was used.

And the service bulletin - SIB 11 06 21 S63M Engine: Engine Oil Filter Kit Availability and Alternatives dated 09-20-2021 for F90 says;
When performing an engine oil service on vehicles equipped with a S63M engine the ETK states to use “Set oil filter element” P/N 11 42 5 A33 C43.

P/N 11 42 5 A33 C43 is a new part number that was recently created without current parts availability.

Until further notice ONLY use “Set oil filter element” P/N 11 42 7 848 321. Do not use any other part numbers.

I plan to use the new part number stated in the service bulletin however I’m curious to know what the difference is between the two different filters.

I doubt the filter is any different. Probably just that the filter kit contains a washer for the removeable filter housing drain plug on late M5.

What ^ said. C43 is for the updated housing with the drain plug and the other is without.

Thanks for the quick answers. I was aware of the filter housing change so a different part number for the housing drain plug seal makes sense.

And for others who do not have the updated cap and are DIYers, it is an inexpensive and easy retrofit that will make changing the oil filter less messy.

Thanks for the info in here chaps.

Does anyone actually know when F90 M5s were supplied from factory with the updated oil filter cap (with drain)?

I'm about to do an interim oil change and wondering if I should buy the updated filter cap with drain or not, for example if my February 2021 car actually already has the updated cap, then no need for me to get a new one. But if without the drain I'll buy one with a drain.

Also on another note does anyone know the filter cap and drain plug torque specifications at all?

Thanks
