2020 M5C Oil Smell after Driving

Hi guys,

owning my F90 Competition since 6 Weeks now and absolutely amazed by the car.

However I noticed one thing bothering me:

Even after short drives I notice a faint Oil smell coming from below the car on driver and passenger side front doors. Can't see any oil leaking or spots in the driveway.

I took it to the dealer today and he noticed aswell.
There are no stains on top, so its not someone having shaky hands on an oil change.

Anyone experienced that problem aswell? Is it normal?

Thanks in advance!

Could be from the last oil change. Some can drip onto the undertray and slowly burn off from exhaust heat.

I thought about that and we tried to check from the outside, but the last oil change was at around 80k KM. Now the car is at 89k KM. Any excess oil would be burned off by now i am guessing

I’d look more carefully from above, in the engine compartment, and below. Remove the under tray, remove the upper engine shields. Look for residue from oil dripping or accumulating. Could be a valve cover gasket, oil filter housing or cap, etc. All it takes to get that smell is a drop on something really hot, like the exhaust or a metal engine shield or undertray near the exhaust.

Yes I'll have the car checked since its still covered under new car warranty luckily (36 Months in Germany).

Thanks for the ideas! It's really annoying when your 70k M5 smells like an old E46

Update: Had the car checked by dealer, the oil pan gasket was leaking. They replaced everything under warranty.
