Should I buy a 21 or go for a 23?
Are these F90's unreliable?
Not sure if I should buy a 21 and get an aftermarket warranty next year or just pony up the extra 20k and buy a 5k mile 23. |

It's pretty reliable but still I would get a newer one (years and mileages) always if budget isn't a concern.

Just saw this ‘23 on carsandbids:
https://carsandbids.com/auctions/3zP...tition-package No idea if it’s what you are looking for or not but I always find these auction sites seem to go relatively or way cheaper than dealers. In fact — it’s often dealers buying them to ship and resell. Looks decent — namely missing potential popular options of: - CCB - B&W audio - Hands free tailgate Not my car and don’t know the seller. Just a heads up.

I was looking for a specific color on LCI, and CPO was must for me. ‘23 would have been more preferred but ‘21 works too. Still under warranty.
So when Rosso Corsa popped for sale 1000 miles away, I just hoped on a plane and got me a ‘21 LCI CPO with 10k miles |

if money wasn't an issue than '23 assuming it has all the options you want. however to save $20k and assuming the '21 has the BW audio (or was that 22's that stopped getting this for awhile), i would go that route. You won't spend 20k in maintenance. knock on wood.
is the pic of the '21? is that stealth ppf on top? that would be a huge plus for me. i have a 2020 and outside the coolant tank leak which almost all of the F90 seems to have, i have had zero issues.

Yea man! This is what I was saying about the auction sites. They usually sell pretty low compared to dealer pricing or what I’d imagine some leg work in private sale will do.
Nearly 34k off MSRP for a car under 5k miles — which was likely what it was bought for more or less in 2022. Great deal for the buyer but this is not likely a reasonable everyday price to aim for when shopping.

I saw you post about the F85 in another thread. I'm on the fence about buying/ switching to an F90 right now. I would trade the F85 in. Would you mind posting some quick thoughts comparing the 2? I like the F85's interior better than the F90 and i think the F85 does more for me in the exterior looks dept as well but I still have the M5 scratch to itch. I'm having trouble committing to a purchase because I feel ill regret leaving the F85 behind. How do you feel since making the F85 to F90 switch? The F85 feels like a rocket, catless w/ Stage 2+ BM3 and a Dinan CAI. I would do similar mods to the F90. I'm getting the feeling ill never be satisfied.

I absolutely love the F90. Once you get in the driver seat, the thing is a rocket. I had a 2016 F85 before this. Also loved it. I sold it during the peak prices when Covid was a thing, so I couldn’t say no to the offer I got. My biggest thing with the F85 is the entertainment system and the comfort of being high up. Bang and Olfusen sound system was a 10/10 for me. I now have the Harmon Kardon which doesn’t even compare. I’m big on entrainment and sound so that’s my biggest takeaway. The performance and drive on the M5 is a 10/10. It’s my favorite car I’ve owned thus far. I can’t speak on the Bowers sound system since I’ve never been able to experience it. I do think if my car had the Bowers option, I wouldn’t think about the F85 much. I’ve had my M5 for 3 years now. Only maintenance I’ve done so far has been, low pressure fuel pump, coolant tank and hoses replaced and switched over the stock brakes to the iSWEEP 2000’s. Any other question please let me know! Hopefully that helps. |

Yeah I hear you. Although, I’ve never seen an M5 with the red interior. My x5m was donington grey w/ red interior. |
