Sound clip of MPE exhaust.
Apologies if there is a thread out there, I’ve searched around and wasn’t able to find one..
I’m thinking about adding the MPE to my order and I’m trying to find a decent clip of it. If anyone here has it fitted, would you recommend it? I figure this might be the last V8 coming in something that’s vaguely affordable so why not get the titanium exhaust. |

I just posted the below on another thread about MPE. Reposting here for ease.
For anyone on the fence about the MPE worried it might be too loud or aggressive, don't be. Like stated above, the one caveat is on cold start due to the way the induction and exhaust valvetrain are timed. Once passed, the sound is just straight up exotic + quality. Know this, as it may be a matter of preference: the tone of the MPE is generally higher in pitch and smoother than say, an M550i with exhaust which turns into more of a muscle car sound. You will NOT get the deep and guttural V8 rumble from the MPE on the F90. It'll sound more like a flat-plane V8, to be honest. I happen to prefer the tone, but YMMV. Oh, also there is zero drone despite no longer being a valved system. The "exhaust sound" button no longer raises or lowers the exterior volume, but it does add in the pops and bangs. Any perceived increase in sound in the exhaust sound "on" mode is actually just in the interior - it's ASD programming only. |

And for $80ish more per month on a lease, sounds like the gift that keeps on giving... |

That's correct. The button also adds bass frequencies in to the ASD using the rear speakers... So it makes it sound fake louder from inside the car.

Was thinking of swapping out my m sport exhaust on my LCI to the akro. Not a fan of the popcorn noise but do like the thunderous growl. Is there a middle ground that might work for me?

Ok, I’m not a big pop/bang fan. So am I correct in stating that I will get the benefit of a nicer exhaust note full time, however if I hit the exhaust button then I will get the pops & bangs?..

Ive only driven my LCI 8 miles so far and have the MPE but i have noticed no difference in sound when i click the exhaust button on (green light goes on) and click it off. No discernable noise difference. Maybe im just doing something wrong.

M5 MPE exhausts aren't valved. ASD is the most prominent in sport and sport+ engine modes and the burble tune is only active in sport+ engine. So set engine to S+ and toggle the exhaust button and you will hear the difference (immediately with the ASD).

I have a number of videos with sound clips on my instagram:
https://www.instagram.com/mbb_m5/ Link to somebody else's video of my car: Love the MPE, absolutely no need for valves at all. |
