M5 Production Status Regresses

Hi Everyone,

I went from "order received" status to "scheduled for production about 10 days ago. Today, I checked my status again (hoping to see I was close to 150) and saw that my production status actually went backwards a step, back to order received.

Here's a brief timeline so far:

3/8/22 - Build In
3/15/22 - Production Number Received
3/15/22 - Plugged In Production Number into BMW MyGarage
3/15/22 - Status Shows "Order Received"
3/25/22- Status Shows "Scheduled For Production"
4/4/22 - Status Shows "Order Received"

I've reached out to my CA and BMW NA and am still waiting to hear back.

Has this happened to any of you? Do you know why it happened? Did you go back to your latest status this far again afterwards?

I'm hoping this doesn't automatically mean some kind of production delay.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT, just for micvite - I know there are existing threads on this, but none of them are in the context of the most recent climate; that is, they discuss the chip shortage and the like, but don't take into account the Ukraine situation.

If you're here to say this been question has been asked and answered, move along. He has been kind enough to do that for you.

The search function is a marvelous thing lol and so is Google. All asshole comments aside on how there's plenty of other threads about this topic, yes it's happened to other people, yes it usually means a delay and your build week most likely got pushed back.

I did search on the forum and Google. Most of the existing threads are from 2018/2019 and don't represent the built to order market as it is NOW (in the context of COVID, chip shortage, Ukraine wiring harness, etc.) The 2021 threads out there certainly don't account for Ukraine. It's quite possible (and likely) that the reason for going backwards is entirely different now than it was on a forum thread for any of those times.

I am asking if anyone RECENTLY went through this/is going through it NOW in this exact climate (that has never occurred prior to NOW).

Edited my original post just for you.

Bro, that's and oddly specific question and also why do you keep capitalizing now?

Sorry your order went backwards and fingers crossed that it progresses quickly and time flies. Delayed gratification is half the reward of the build process, it'll be that much more special… no? Oh well I kinda tried haha

Can't figure out if the first portion of your post is sarcasm or not. Capitalization seemed necessary clarify things for another forum member. And if the forum isn't the place for an oddly specific question, then I'm curious where is?

Thanks for the kind words nonetheless!

EDIT - went back and read some of your specific posts, ResidualJinx. I'm going with sarcasm in the end!

This happened to me several times and it resulted in the Production Week being pushed back four times.

Individual M5C

Ordered in April 21, Allocation in June.

Production Weeks 27,33,36, 38 and 45. It was finally started in Week 43 but you see how many times it was delayed. Flipped from Sch for Production to Order Received multiple times.

Arrived at Baltimore VPC in December where it spent 12 weeks waiting on RAM.

Individual Colors are produced in batches so this added to delays.

Hope this helps.

As usual Jose, leave it to you to post a kind, thoughtful, and helpful response!

Thank you so much for shedding some light on this in the current climate. You're the only person on the forum to confirm that not only can it go backwards, but back and forth numerous times. You're a million times more helpful than any BMW "Genius." I'll get my expectations in check accordingly.

Thanks again!

Hahaha .. hope you're enjoying your car.

I ordered from an out of state dealer so that added a little additional time to the process.

Car arrived in Miami about 3 weeks ago but was delivered straight to detailer for PPF and initial round of mods.

Do you notice that every little thing that someone tries to explain to you on this forum, has to be explained at least five times?

So I am going to have to explain to you…again. I didn't say that the 2021 forums didn't help. I said that the discussion on the 2021 forums were not in the context of the most recent issue of a multitude of issues involving built to order cars — Ukraine.

Jose states in his post that his car arrived at the Baltimore VPC in December 2021 and sat there for 12 weeks. Even if that was the end of December, he didn't receive his car until the end of March. (Upon reading some of his later posts, he states that he actually received the car in the third week of February, but it makes no difference in what I am about to say - in fact the day his car arrived at the dealership was the day before the first day of the Russian incursion into Ukraine). That means his production delays up until then we're not caused by the Ukraine situation. That's not to say there weren't rumblings of war and invasion in Ukraine back then, but we were nowhere near close to the time in which it became a reality that affected parts availability in Ukraine. That is to say, when he was experiencing issues that he mentioned, the issues were not because of Ukraine. You verbatim said, "…his car wasn't impacted by that." So, since his thread did not address that matter, I created a new thread.

You're all over this forum under the auspices of the superior knowledge you supposedly have, but you seem to get taken down quite a bit with people who seem to know more than you. Your immediate reaction is to continuing fighting because you can never, ever be wrong. Then, you sulkily become the thread police. That is the stereotypical behavior of a petulant child.

You admitted yourself to me a few weeks ago that most people on here find you to be an asshole (your words, not mine). At first, I thought that everyone that ragged on you (and yes, you're right, there is a lot), was being unnecessarily harsh. In fact, I actually stood up for you on another thread. I even publicly thanked you for providing a bit of useful information. A number of other newer members have done the same. I won't diminutize your occasional valuable contributions, but you seem to really have a knack to irritate most others. I can't be the first one to ever say this to you, but if you're constantly problems with others at that level of frequency, it's usually not the others that are the problem.

I never denied being as asshole, bold of you to assume otherwise. You claim that I fight because I can never be wrong yet not once was I actually proven wrong with facts, merely people stating opinions that have no factual basis. Unfortunately I don't state opinions as facts, and when I say something there is a source to back my statements up. Whether you see this as me being childish, so be it, I honestly couldn't care less what other people think of me or say about me, which I'd argue in turn means quite the opposite. I do respect your opinion and appreciate that won't take away my "limited" contributions and you are most correct in stating I have a knack for annoying people. In fact you could say I even get a kick out of watching people squirm online and getting so worked up over a few words written while I'm on the toilet (literally).

Best of luck getting your car and hopefully any delays will be minor, I know how painful the wait can be.
