You must be building a lower priced M5. I am about $30,000 USD apart. 92k 550 to 122k M5C. Roughly 25,000 EUR. Just want to see what what that translates to on a lease here before I make decision.
I would agree. If you add every option and a custom color you're still around or just below 95k for the M550i. If you add the equivalents onto an M5.. custom color, B&W sound, etc i can't imagine you can just be 15k apart. Also, that assumes some random options like massaging seats etc which I'm not sure you can get on the M5 can you ?

Great video, thanks for sharing! The M550i's definitely the better car for people seeking comfort (and a smaller budget), while the M5 is a great performance car in its class.

This is my preferred spec for the M550i in Germany. I think there are some exclusive options like the adaptive suspension professional for 4K€ or the parking heater witch also isn't available for the M5, that could get the M550i closer to the M5. The M5C I ordered is at 140500, so still nearly a 20k gap.

Yes of course the M5 gets massaging seats lol. It's in the premium pack which most people spec so yea...pretty common.

Ahh in the Exec package. I seem to have overlooked it when building out the car previously. Thx

In my case the gap was 11k euro, as my M5c was a little bit less than yours

I did not cross shopped them, I wanted the full fat M5 Competition no less, but just out of pure curiosity, trying to figure out who would choose the M550i instead of the M5 when the price gap is so small

I have a 2021 M550i on order. Out of respect for the M guys...I'm taking my M badges.

M5 was a hair out of my budget (by a couple hundred a month), a puppy and hopefully a kid on the way soon. I felt the M5 was a bit too much.

My thoughts is lease the 550 for 3 years. If I like the platform, find a 2021 LCI M5 right off lease and buy it outright.

Congrats! Planning any mods or tuning? I originally thought if I got the M550, I would get the Dinan tune (once they develop it for the 2020+ cars), and the exhaust and call it a day.

What color combo did you go with, and did you option DHP? I had it on my F3x cars, and really liked it. Seems it's well liked by 550 owners who got it too. Doesn't work so well if you plan to go aftermarket suspension though.

Cheers!

Im currently in the market. I drove both. One car is the best 5 series ever at 43k used CPO. The other car is the best M5 ever at 69k used with warranty. It's very confusing. Yet I feel the F90 is worth the extra 26k. Very bizarre. Both wonderful machines. Going to be a tough decision

Good choice. My wife purchased a new M550i in 2018, and it has been a great car. I only drive it to get gas at the corner station. It is a very solid car and she loves it.

What year is the M5 for 69k. Everyone I see now is 77k to mid 80k range for 18 and 19 model year.
