Well this B&W thing finally came to a head for me today. I just could not live with my build not having B&W.
So I really taught BMW a lesson. And added carbon brakes and the M performance exhaust to my build. I mean it's only logical to take out a $3,500 option and replace it with 16k worth of options right? At least with the rumble and cackle of the MPE it will give me something to listen to other than the B&W that I don't have. So far no changes to my build slot (which I think goes week 40). |

How'd you even add MPE? Through your SA? That's another thing that has annoyed me with the current model year. As far as I know, all of the carbon fiber pieces and MPE do not have "chips," so why they cannot at least fix that issue is beyond me. They did finally add the 2022 M5 to the shopbmwusa.com site but still nothing beyond earth-shattering upgrades like a license plate holder.
And is your MPE going to be installed at port or by the dealer? |

I’m ready to add CCBs even if my car does include the B&W! That’ll show them not to mess with us. 😂 |

well done, I have been on the fence with CCB. This is just giving me more time to think about it I guess. Not sure I really need them since I never tracked my last M5 but I would like to track this one at some point just would be rare. Dropping B&W may be a deal breaker though, I know I could upgrade the audio but really do not want to go down that road in this car and havnt in my last several BMW's. I am guessing mine will be ok though just will be a waiting game. I just wish BMW would provide us more information then they are. Build weeks are useless when they are not followed. For example, are they getting some supply of parts from B&W or is B&W producing now, waiting on parts to produce and so forth. The supply chain would have a decent estimate as to when they will have a certain quantity.

The MPE was a surprise and a splurge because I too heard that was not orderable. TBH - as much as I'd like to have B&W in the car, I couldn't be more pleased to have the spec the way it is now. |

I get that. I am purchasing this car and plan to keep for a long time so am more concerned about the long term maintenance. I am still tempted though because break dust is no joke, wheels are hard to clean and get looking good with all the break dust.

if you are considering tracking, stay away from the CCB. Other than that, go for it. You'll thank yourself everytime you go to wash your wheels. |

I've had both the H/K and now the B&W system in the car (G30 chassis). Other than the lighting from the speakers, both systems sound very good. The bass is slightly deeper in the B&W system. Highs are little more refined in the B&W system.
Is it a $3200 improvement? No. Not in my opinion. I have a high end pair of B&W speakers in my house as a reference. Just some food for thought. Chris

I've pretty much decided this year isn't the time to try and get another M5. Maybe not even in a few years, but by then I'm sure electric will have infected the line. I'm sure they'll somehow find an excess of chips for that.

Where did you hear about the heads up display being removed too? No heads up and no B&W is a deal breaker. Sounds like I'm not getting one this year.

The chip shortage is the cause of this. They also are removing all heads up displays from all of their cars too because of this.

Mercedes for example in the new S Class removed heads up, massaging seats, upgraded 4d audio, active ambient lighting, and their augmented reality. To which the seats, heads up, and ambient lighting are standard options. It's insane. I'm glad I got my M5 in February. |

https://www.bmwblog.com/2021/09/30/bmw-head-up-display-is-no-longer-available-for-many-models/ As noted in this and many other articles, the 5 series and it's variants are not affected by this change for the HUD. Please read the articles you're quoting in full or do further research before posting and sending others into a frenzy. |
