Fuel Injection & Induction System Cleaning
I brought my M5c in for oil service and the SA recommended I have this done. Question to the board, has anyone done this? How often? Cost? I was quoted $500

Interesting, the only way i know how to clean the valves on this motor is to drop the engine. what exactly are they offering ?
Edit: perhaps they are just offering a fuel injection cleaner into the gas tank ? |

watching this tread......you don't want to be the first M5 customer who's car they are going to do this too.....When they did my spark plugs at 25k miles, it took the tech 8 hours. Did not appear to have broken anything. LOL

I bought a BMS as JB4 and water meth system so hopefully I won’t need to clean carbon for a long time. I walnut blasted my E61 535xi years ago and it was pretty gooey. I had to do a lot of scraping prior to the blasting. |

The service they are selling you is merely a pressurized connection at the fuel rail with a mixture of a fuel injector cleaning solution and fuel. Run the engine at idle for about 20min to allow it to clean the injectors and valves. Its approved by BMW but as far as effectiveness, I could not even attest. Im a firm believer if you use a good fuel, dont extended idle or atleast beat on your car periodically the carbon buildup will be minimal.

If you are a BMW master tech then you have seen and probably cleaned the carbon from the direct injection N54 intake ports and valves. What makes the S63TU direct injection motor different? I have read some car makers are adding supplemental port injection for this purpose but was not aware BMW is doing it. |

Page 67 of the link in the attached (page 71 of the pdf) describes the S63TU injectors as direct injectors operating at 200 bar pressure.
