Background. I have one on order. I didn't want to post this information until my dealer called and confirmed a date to finalise my order. Now after weeks of calling, pushing and just being plain annoying all the information from each contact is now coherent -BMW Australia, Munich and my Dealer.

Details I know so far...

Global Specification:
  • Power up 19Kw (+25hp) from 441 to 460Kw
  • Toque up 50Nm (+37 lb-ft) from 750 to 800Nm
  • 0.1 second quicker to 62mph
  • Sports Exhaust** with competition specific tuning (more cracks and louder)
  • Revised Suspension (lowered and firmer in sports/+ settings)
  • Competition specific rims
  • Black Badging, including "competition" under rear M5 logo
  • Black front and side grills
  • Blacked out lower portion of rear bumper (around diffuser)
  • M Carbon Engine Cover
  • Competition illuminated door seals
  • Y-Spoke 789M wheels

**The Sports Exhaust is not the full titanium exhaust
*Carbon Ceramic Brakes are not included

The price. I know majority of the people reading this are not from Australia. If you are, fantastic, I can give you a price to the dollar. $229k before on roads (Australian Dollars). But again, most of you this means nothing. I can say, the price is almost identical to the last competition package on the last generation F10. Given this US customers can expect the price to be similar to the last comp pack.

As per my last post production begins in July. Deliveries begin in September.

Australian buyers will see quite a few extra options standard with the package including the Bowers & Wilkins diamond surround sound system.

Per Marius16, here's the F90 M5 Competition with Y-Spoke 789M wheels:

If CCB and full Ti exhaust is included this package it will cost 25k+ in the US, and even more expensive for ROW. I have always said there is no way CCBs will be part of the package, it would make the package too costly.

I wonder if they're black or CF? Hard to tell in the pic, F10 ZCP had the CF mirror caps.

One of the key elements of the M5 was the wheels.
This car deserved beautiful iconic wheels. Yet, all new wheels look like crap. Plus, not everyone wants black wheels...

I disagree, most people who ACTUALLY track their cars DON'T want CCB's... (I ran them for two years on my track car and have since replaced them with an Apex/Essex brake kit).

Don't get me wrong, the brakes work great but are VERY expensive to use on the track. They also wear pretty quickly with heavy track use. Spending $14K every 15-20 track days is a pretty stiff commitment. (Ask me how I know...)

Better to get 95% the performance for a third the price...

Ironically, however, CCB's make great street brakes. No dust and they last forever on the street. I would always put CCB's on my street cars if available...

Unfortunately my last few post here have not been overly positive (and that's only when I care enough to even post) and I guess this is going to be more of the same......

1. Why the hell is BMW, the brand that ten years ago made cars that sounded the same or better than an Italian exotic, the only German manufacturer left that can't make a decent sounding valve exhaust (with button to open and close) on their M cars? MB have sounded good for years (just a different brand of sound), Audi has been making great sounding valved exhaust for their cars at least as far back as my friends old V8 RS5, and my 991 has one of the BEST German OEM exhaust out there IMO. And here with are with BMW releasing their new M5 with the same old moter and its the same old BS junk stock exhaust, better junk comp package exhaust, or spend the value of a new Carolla for the "M Performance Exhaust" (lol). This is a huge fault for me as ten years ago BMW taught me sound was one of the #1 emotional connections to a car.

2. AT THIS POINT WE ALL KNOW THE COMP PACKAGE IS COMING AND PRETTY MUCH EXACTLY WHAT IT WILL HAVE (because other than stupid trim pieces it's always the same). What the hell is the reason to wait one single model year to put it out other than screwing loyal customers who aren't as in tune with the brand!?!? It's time to do like MB and release the comp package along side the "normal M" (since we have to pay extra for the comp package for what used to be a normal M) and let's preferable not wait until damn near LCI time to do it!

Sad to say but it's looking like very soon will be the first time since I was able to afford a BMW I won't have one in my garage. I really would love one but they are just straying too far from what made me lust after them as a kid and fall in love with them once I could afford one.
