I've purchased quite a few M cars in the last couple years from a BMW owned factory dealership, which means that it's not a dealership owned by a sub company like Trivett here in Australia, BMW group themselves own and run the dealership. They have direct contact with the guys in Munich and after shopping around a few dealers before making a order they were the only ones to have any information on the comp pack.

Now let's get started; Australia will only see the comp pack for orders now on. The first and launch edition is sold / already allocated.

The price of the comp pack in Australia is $20k. Including the following;
  • B&W Hifi standard
  • Carbon fibre engine cover standard (two parts over the engine and charge air coolers at the front of the engine)
  • Suspension is lower -7 / 10mm front and rear
  • Usual black grills badges side vents etc
  • 460kw (616hp) torque not confirmed
  • Competition Package specific exhaust tuning same as latest M3 comp pack, cracks burbles on the over run.
  • Sports exhaust standard on top of tuning
The full information is going to dealers in the April bulletin. With only some of the information was given to me as it was directly effecting my order. E.g I was about to pay for the B&O twice.

My build will be in July this year delivery the last week of September. Australia has 20 cars allocated.

I have the order form, Australian options list with pricing if anyone wants to PM me. (Comp pack isn't on the options list yet, before anyone asks)

Can't wait to see my Frozen Dark Silver w Tartufo Leather, the long wait is now on

As well, based on AUD, I think this would put it at just under $10k USD.

Sport exhaust, but no MSport exhaust, suspension, perhaps different wheels, bit more power and some extra bits here and there.

Essentially, very little extra cost for BMW beyond simple R&D, and a $10k price to the customer.

Gross margin, anyone???
At current conversion rates, $20,000 AUD is $15,434 USD

However, Australia tax and prices on BMWs far exceed the standard conversion rates.

As previously mentioned, these are very likely the Competition wheels

This prototype is definitely wearing a new wheel model, not the M3/M4 CS/GTS 666M wheels where spokes are closer together when meeting the rim

If those were the wheels in all silver I'd be down!... I'm dying for a wheel on this car that isn't mostly or all black.

Does the CP come with Ceramic Brakes? I have a First Edition on order and have many of the same options included with the package. $20K seems a bit steep for an extra 16hp. However, I am a fan of the lowered stance and will be doing the same to my FE. Congrats on your order. If you're like me, I check status several times daily

All of you relax. It won't be a $20k option in the USA. Lol!

But seriously, if those are truly the new Comp Package Wheels for the F90 M5, man what a let down. But I guess we'll just have to wait a little longer for the true Comp Package to be unveiled soon. They will continue to change more with the LCI update in about a year as well.

Would be nice if the Comp Package added some new things like a different designed rear deck spoiler, different colored seat belts, lighter fully forged wheels, maybe even different designed front kidney grills or something too.

I also suspect them offering a Competition Package this early will mean that there will be a Competition Package (II) later on the F90 M5 life cycle.

Quite possible indeed. I wouldn't be surprised if they came up with a similar design though in order to provide a sense of familiarity to all Competition wheels (single color, 10 crossed double spokes, smooth profile), just like all regular M wheels have their own familiar design (5-7 parallel double spokes, bi-color (black/diamond-cut silver), angular profile).

I will hope you are correct on both assumptions as the pricing for what is listed says - this is CAD:

B&W Hifi standard - 4K
Carbon fibre engine cover standard - Part of a Black out package below.
Suspension is lower -7 / 10mm front and rear - not listed (same suspension?)
Usual black grills badges side vents etc - package makes that for 4K
460kw (616hp) torque not confirmed - not listed
Competition Package specific exhaust tuning - not listed
Sports exhaust standard on top of tuning - 1500

So there is about maybe 10K CAD worth of gear here - so maybe 8K US. Tune for 16 HP power "bump" and exhaust note with suspension lowered on the same(?) suspension being extra.

Unless you really really want the wheels - I would say there are better ways to spend your coin - especially on performance.

Haha. The CCB alone on the F80 M is that price.

These would look so has-been, back to F10, and out of place on the F90 Competition

Why wouldn't they offer a standard M5 entry model?

Just crazy.

If true, this, apart from the carbon bonnet, is a very timid upgrade from the standard M5 (well they use the term "Competition" after all). I was expecting a bit more HP for the CP. Maybe in real life the HP increase will be more as BMW always underrate their HP claims...
