Since I am not the only one but other 5 series drivers in Germany experience the same (even after some 5000 miles):

My new car smells like a new car which is obviously normal. But in addition I taste this smell in my mouth and my tongue and mouth become slightly numb after appr. 10 minutes of driving.

I am neither allergic to anything nor overly sensitive to anything and I have never ever had something similar before with any other car.

How do you experience this?

I have the full leather in my car.

Nein! That is very odd and I have and had many a car, w/ full leather. My current 550 M has it and so does my Maserati MC...

BMW just issued a bulletin about this. Apparently if we stop making out with our cars, it goes away

I had a loaner that had these issues. I sprayed a bottle of lexol and some Tom Ford in there and it helped.

I have the SAME exact issue. After 5 minutes of driving I have this chemical taste in my mouth and get a severe headache. I thought I was crazy, and so does my husband.

I have the full leather interior In Argon Brown.

It's almost as if I'm tasting brake dust.

Update: I covered 400 miles now and we had some very hot days. Smell is lighter and the taste has almost vanished.
