M5 Comp vs 4 Dr Maserati

I was driving early Saturday morning with very light traffic and I'm in the fast lane doing 85mph. I saw in my rear view mirror, a 4 door Maserati of some sort, come barreling towards me at light speed.

I hit the M2 button and smashed the accelerator. Within a few seconds, I overcame his momentum advantage and put on a few bus lengths up to about 150mph ish.

We came upon a little traffic rather quickly, so I shut it down and my adrenaline high came to an end.

I was waiting for him to pull up even with me to give him a thumbs up but he never did. So I put my hazards on and took my exit. Dick move? Maybe…haha! I love this car!

I turned in my 4-door Maserati in February and immediately went to order my M5C in April - it's slated to arrive late July / early August. I had a brief moment of lunacy going with a Maserati versus sticking with BMW like I have almost my whole life.

The exterior of the Maserati I had looked nice, especially with some CF aero modifications, and had a nice exhaust tone to it, but under the hood...it's like comparing apples to steaks between it and a M5C. Off a direct start I'm about 99.999999% certain you would've annihilated the Maserati and been in another zip code lol.

Plus...I gotta say...inside a Maserati was nothing to be appetizing...it's on basically a Jeep platform so the touchscreen you have, the buttons, dials, are exactly what you have in a Jeep / Jeep Cherokee lol.

Looking forward getting back into my soon-to-be M5C!!

I'm fairly certain most "car guys" agree, the Maserati is a novelty, not a serious car by any measure.

I have one and it sounds great, styling is great, it has prestige and great presence. It is a head turner but drivability wise nothing compared to F90.

I've always loved the way the Ghibli looks especially in black. But the interior is essentially a Chrysler and while the exhaust note is there, not sure about it's performance.
They were very generous on lease numbers when I looked a few years ago but the interior really just is not there for me.

personally, wouldn't even waste the gas, or even risk getting a ticket over any Maserati.

But good kill

Apart from seats, steering, speedometer everything including B&W sound system is trash. Mine is tuned to over 500hp sounds amazing but nothing compared to f90. Also for some reason it's feel more front wheel drive from dig and where as f90 u can't tell awd at all.

Maserati has nothing in M5 class. Just as BMW has nothing to compete against MC20.

The M5C basically does the same thing to most other cars, the exception being supercars.

I owned Ghibli and Levante; hated interior. I do think GranTourismo and older Quattroporte have better interior and better engine sound

I've had a Ghibli.

Maserati's are nice cars to be seen in, rather than actually be in. Nothing that I've driven of their's is better than the equivalent competing prestige brands.

I mean....I thought about the Maserati for a bit...but the tech is like from 2006 and let's be honest....Ghiblis are like $30k right now. Quattroportes are like $40k.

It would be a cool 3rd or 4th car....but no one driving one is fooling others into thinking it's this Italian exotic. It's like trying to put a watch made by Tiffany or Louis Vuitton up against Rolex or Patek....it's a name brand but not at all a serious contender.

One of my closest friends had 16' Granturismo MC and I completely can attest to this.

I had a Ghibli SQ4 a few years ago, they were going for low 30s CPO for a 2-3 year old one with sub 30k miles. Drove it till the warranty lapsed. For the price i was happy, it sounded amazing and was actually exciting to drive.

It is crazy to me that new they are similar in price to an M5.
