Did you get it finished, and did you get your break in done?

Picked mine up this morning at the dealership. Much better in person than online.

Got the 1200 mile service done about 2 weeks ago. The car is an absolute monster once you get it out of first gear.

As for the PPF... it goes back to the shop for the 3rd time tomorrow. I'll be having a "come to jesus" conversation with them and let them know that they either need to do it right, or give a refund.

Congratulations on finally getting the car. How frustrating to miss the track days at VIR! But it’ll give you time to appreciate the subtleties of the differences between the M5C and the M5CS before the next warm weather track days. I was hoping either you or Day Laborer would be able to make it to VIR to see if the car has enough improvement in power and handling to make a measurable difference in the hands of a non-pro driver. Maybe the carbon brakes will make enough of a difference all by themselves? Are there many heavy braking points at VIR?

Maybe I join him at VIR in the Spring time.

I'm probably not as good of a driver as Mr. Hayes

Awesome on #1.

Holy shit on #2. I'm so sorry. You will be in my thoughts (and prayers, but that's so cliche)

Screw missing track days. I took the 2018 and she and I had our swan song together.

Of note, did you know how durable the BMW wheel connection system is? On track day 2, session #3 of 4, at 80 MPH and above I had a terrible vibration on laps 2-3, getting progressively worse.

On hot pit, nobody could see anything.

In my garage, I was tearing it all down to find the source.

Left rear tire was missing THREE of FIVE lug bolts. THREE. I tightened those SOB's myself on Friday night. The remaining two were holding up to 100mph. While suboptimal, and I should have been "preflighting" better, because I suspect I was losing one lug at a time, that's STUPENDOUS that the system could tolerate that. Very pleased. But reminder, always check your nuts.

Shawn

P.S. - I will be looking soon for early 2022 track days. I'll let you know. But right out of the box, this SOB is a MUCH more beastly monster than the 2018. Maybe it's placebo, but I KNOW I can feel more power and speed out of it, even without pushing it at all.

Lug bolts make me nervous. I put studs on the F10 and never had the lug nuts loosen up. I’ve only done two track days with the F90, but when I checked the lug bolts at the track they all stayed to torque. I don’t like the look of the studs, but I may do them on the F90 also. Maybe a winter chore.

You were lucky not to have a serious problem. Maybe your 2018 knows you’re selling her?

That’s what I’m curious about, the feel versus the actual performance level the car will rise to. I don’t drive my base M5 to its capabilities and I wonder if I would be any faster in a car with more potential? Eventually probably, but I bet it wouldn’t happen for a while. If you can better your lap times on the first day with the CS that’ll prove how good the car is. I suppose if the power increase is enough to give you a second or two in the full throttle sections of the track, that might be an easy lap time reduction, assuming your braking can adapt. I bet you can’t wait!

Please do brother. My "anchor" event is always Audi Club at VIR. That's in April. This year, I may be so eager to go, that I may hit a February or March event. TrackDaze and Chin are my other favorites, but I HAVE to go back to visiting other tracks. I love VIR, but CMP, Road Atlanta, and NJMP need to be back on my repertoire again.

Sir, there are "natural" drivers and not. I am a "not". Many years of coaching and practice is how I got where I am. You might be one of the all time greatest when you show up. I'm just "meh" for advanced drivers. I almost never drive 10/10ths. 9/10ths is sketch feeling, but 8 and 3/4ths is where I'm most comfortable. 110 mph in the uphill esses at VIR is about as big as cojones as I have. It's the Mr. Miagi phenomenon "always someone better". So please, come out with us sometime. You will be welcome and amongst friends.

It's the first time in more than a decade that I had any wheel fastener come loose. Maybe the lug bolts were getting old. They had three years of multiple track sessions. I used to replace regularly, might need to go back to that habit.

Some say that the 2018 was "attention getting" by shedding her bolts. Maybe so. She got my attention all right.

I believe the refresh from 2018 till now made the car much better. Might be a lot of that making it faster than just the CS upgrade, but we'll see. Car feels VERY STRONG during the initial break in. VERY STRONG.

What are they doing wrong so that it does not happen to me when I get PPF on a car?

Hopefully you aren't going to the same installer that I went to. Lol

Ordered late summer. Still showing order received. Dealer said BMW assigned a production week for end of October and then moved it out. Currently it doesn't have a production week.

All allocations were given out at once. So, dealers got their entire model year amount of production slots in April.

Dealers were told a rough estimate of production times for each slot.

Has the production of allocated CS models been completed, or is BWM still keep producing them?

They are still in production. Although, no one has a good idea of how many will actually get made with all these delays and shortages.
