Yep Mine does this also, very loud in confined spaces.

You will do without the OPFs. I get wuffle and fluff when doing the same.

OPF?

I also need to mention I set the transmission in D2 as well. Need to have it hold revs a little more in order to get the pops for me.

They are the particulate filters in the exhaust we have here in Europe. They really do muffle the sound somewhat.

Only way I can have it do it...

I can only have it really pop by either getting to 4K rpm and lifting right off or downshifting where the rpm hits 4K and again lifting off while I do.
The second way seems to have it pop everytime. Full beans effect.
Simply lifting off at 4K sometimes does it other times it doesn't.

All this while in Sport Plus and L3 Transmission.
Burbles all the time like it's sipping on gripe water, but only pops over 4K... in my experience

No cracks here at all - lots of lovely wuffles though- but I'm STILL running in...

The family reckon its quieter at idle than the stock F10 M5, as that had a standard exhaust/non M or modded exhaust, but made the windows rattle ?!

Same for me. Need the engine in sport plus mode though with exhuast button pressed. Pops and crackles every single time if you rev up to around 4k and release the throttle. Addictive

I just went in to BMW get my car reprogrammed for seats not returning to full position after buckling up. Oh my god the Cracks, Pops and Bangs are unlike anything I’ve heard until now. 20,000 miles and it sounds like a completely different car. Cracks at will by lifting at the 4,000 rpm point. Almost too loud for residential areas. Sounds like 4-5 quick gun shots. Also used to be limited to 3-4 revs in neutral or park with pops and the car would not let it happen again. It now seems unlimited. Great reprogramming if BMW did this!

I don't own a competition model but I do have the M sport exhaust and my car is all stock. It will crackle and pop like crazy once driven hard first and is up to temperature. Tons of fun

after the software update when trying to rectify the CEL, I noticed that the pops and crackles are considerably less and shorter. it still sounds like shotgun shots fired, just abbreviated. I have the remus exhaust

My M5C pops ridiculously in SP+ with just a quick bit of throttle and release.
In fact, I have been known to slip into neutral and give it a quick rev to say hello to a neighboring car...it never disappoints!
