Front license plate

I live in a state where we have to put front license plate(NY). Was wondering what is everyone doing for front plates? Don't think front motorized plate would work due to sensor.

I live in California and you are supposed to have a front plate. None of my daily drivers for 10 yrs now have had front plates and I’ve never been pulled over once for it. In the time span I was pulled over only two times, and didn’t receive a ticket nor did they mention the plate. The m5 looks ridiculous with a front plate and my viper would look even worse.

Do the cops in NY really pull nice cars over for missing front plates?

Never had front plates on my car. Got pulled over in my F80 couple weeks back the female officer had a power trip, gave her my friends PBA card threw it back to me went crazy a little asked for the PDA back and told me to have a nice day. Go figure

I second this, the F90 M5 looks so bad with a front plate. I have owned 3 M5's since 2005 and have paid $60 in fines in that time for not having a front plate. I will continue without my front plate on this M5.

I just don't put one and eat the ticket if I get pulled over.

I'm in NJ/NYC and in the past five years I've only been cited once for no front plate, and I've never been pulled over just for not having the front plate.

I always told myself on the third ticket I would install one of those flip up plates but the day still hasn't come.

YMMV

What have the fines been for no front plate? Is it considered a moving violation from an insurance perspective?

It's not a moving violation and it was either $50 or $150, I can't remember.

Hey I feel your pain too. I put the CravenSpeed Platypus License plate mount and it doesn't interfere with the sensors and looks kinda good.

Texas is a front plate state as well and I haven't put one on in years, but lately I have been pulled over three times and it's getting annoying. And it's mainly on the highways. Local police don't care.

I just ordered a removable plate from "sto n sho." It just arrived and I'm going to install it today. The only hole you have to drill is from underneath so you can't see it. It comes with 3m double sided mounting tape as well so you may not even need to drill at all. You just install the bracket on the underside and the plate locks in with a spring loaded key. So you can remove it easily.

First picture is with just the mount on with tape. It seems pretty sturdy and I haven't even drilled the hole yet. I figure I can just keep it in the car and worst case if I get pulled over, just say I ran it through a car wash recently and forgot to put it back on.

I’m upstate NY, and don’t have a front plate.
I’m sure NYC is stricter since they do more with automatic cameras.

MA is the same and my rule of thumb is if there was a front plate holder already there prior to ownership I will use a front plate. If new or no holder I am not drilling a 100+k car to hang a plate. I've been stopped once before and the cop just wanted a closer look at my rs4 to which she admitted and just said friendly reminder you do need a front plate. Worst case you get a ticket and it does zilch to your record or insurance.

Come on! The Front License plate is 'Darn Sexy" just like Fat Bastard!

How do you feel about the inspection sticker and the registration sticker? When I first got my car inspected at my local dealer I made them redo it since the sticker was 30 degrees off from straight! Not a few degrees, but about 30. LOL. I hate when those are not straight.

Wish we did not require a front plate but I'm ok with it. As long as its wrapped in Carbon fiber. LOL

In Cali too , in my experience most cops will not bother you. I suppose there may be a few, I'll take that chance

It sits just above it and doesn't block it. I haven't noticed any change in functionality. Used it this morning on the drive in and it was functioning as normal.
