Running in Service - £727!
When I bought my M5 I asked how much the running in service would be and they said they didn't know but it would probably be around £300.
Booked it in yesterday online and it costs £727! All the dealers in the South East seem to be run by the same company so all quote the same. I still think this service should come free of charge after such little mileage after buying the car.

Blimey! Mine’s next week, glad I have the service pack. I’m not sure booking online is the best way, perhaps I’m wrong. I’d like to know why the cost is so high. I agree this service should be free. Query it and let us know how you get on. Good luck!

Buy the service pack before the service. It's £999, but you should get at least 2 in the 3 year span.

I do a low mileage too, but based on the quotes I could get for the RIS and 2 year service, it looked like it was going to pay for itself.
Brake fluid should be done at 3 years, but it's not very clear whether it is or isn't included with Service Inclusive. The Terms & Conditions on the main BMW site says only for i3 and i8 models, but the Terms & Conditions on the bmw-service site where you check whether you have got a service pack say it is covered.

£435...........
After a bit of bartering and sweet talking the bird at BMW Sytner in Leicester, I just had my run in service for £435...
Basically, any BMW Sytner franchise should be able to match this and so can all the other franchises, Lister, Sycamore, etc etc... Good luck... |

Well done with that, Sytner Leicester couldn't even manage to give me a quote for a running-in service back in September, when other dealers were quoting around £650, so I bought the Service Pack with the car.
That said, I know it confused them when I booked my RIS before I had picked up the car and couldn't give them a registration number because it hadn't actually been assigned a number at that time I booked it in. The day before pick-up, I gave them the number. I then picked the car up on the Friday with delivery miles (I think it was 12) and got the RIS done the following Wednesday (yes, 5 days later) at 1,208 miles.

I recommend Sytner Tamworth highly, if your anywhere in the Midlands! I was in and out within 2 hours.
And by the way, the up to date running in service also requires a coolant top-up, so ensure that gets done also... |

I think the coolant top up/check, is actually classed as a recall.

Yeah mines booked in for the 7th June and they mentioned the coolant check as well, I’m guessing those who have missed this will get a recall soon enough.

I got my service done and apparently the coolant topup is done for any low mileage M5. Since I have done only 1200 miles in 6 months mine fell into that category.

I think they need to let it cool right down at some point, not quite sure why, but 4 hours they said was about the norm.

How can changing the oil take labour costing >£700? I just asked my dealer as I'm about to purchase a new F90, and the quote is £707 (Hertfordshire). This seems much more expensive than my current F10.
How about the remaining services, what mileage will the oil service and main service come in at? |
