Brakes Squeaking? Here's The Cure

The stock brakes on my 2019 M5 Competition were squeaking so loudly that I could barely stand it. I brought my car to Ben at RG Sport (626) 217-2161 and he installed aftermarket brake pads from ACG Automotive (858) 633-1017 X 704 and that cured the issue. No more noise and the performance is great! If you live in Southern California call Ben and he will get your M5 brake noise free.

Haven't made any real effort to deal with it although I'm sure bedding them in will resolve until the next rain.

Point is though...they aren't magically squeak (or dust) free.

Yes, you have to bed the ACG pads when you first get them. Mine do not squeak or make any noise.

Just had my 2000km break in servicing yesterday, highlighted the brake noise. They examined the brakes and said they are in good shape, no issues and some brake noise on M brakes in "normal".
I said it's normal on a tractor working in a sand pit but it shouldn't be normal on a M5. They just laughed and that was it ...

Trust me, you do not have to have brake noise on your F90 M5. Have aftermarket pads installed and the problem is solved.

I’m not familiar with this slang. But, from the context, I’m guessing it means to brake hard a few times to wear-down the pads a bit. Am I correct?

Interesting that these brake pads are having mixed results. I also saw on a previous thread that some were having issues with the ability to reinstall the sensors on the rear pads.

I've found the stock M brakes only make noise once they build up dust. After a wash, there is no noise for a day or so...but if it goes for a week, then it gets really loud!

These pads work great if installed correctly then bedded. No more brake noise, period.

Are you guys getting a cut of these or what?
Or do you think because yours don't squeak that it's impossible someone else's might? Or if someone else's squeak they must be doing something wrong?

Let me tell you something… I'm still completely stunned that ACG shipped me pads that were obviously incorrectly manufactured and that they were not immediately replaced or the situation otherwise resolved. One look at the pads shows the brake sensor notch is simply not in the right place… WTF??? And no resolution? What… My dealership is supposed to take the liability for modifying $650 worth of brake pads because they can't be manufactured properly? And how much of my time am I supposed to waste trying to resolve it? I finally stopped dealing with it after numerous emails and phone calls to both ACG and my dealer. If my time wasn't valuable I probably wouldn't be driving a car like this in the first place…

Maybe you guys should be careful about the companies you vouch for or perhaps you just have lower standards. Or perhaps just understand that while maybe you had a good experience, it's how companies deal with bad experiences that really define quality.

Oh yeah, and they were also shady enough to charge my credit card without even having the part in hand. Instead a few days later they had it "shipped to me directly from the manufacturer" which of course gave them no opportunity to notice that the part was not correct. This is one of many reasons why no reputable business will charge a CC until the product is shipped.

Consider this a counterbalance for the constant hyping of this company and these brake pads.

To Pimpsy,

I am not receiving a cut or kickback for saying a good word about the positive experience I've had with these aftermarket brakes. In your prior posts you mentioned that you did not bed the brakes after you had them installed. I believe that the reason our experiences have been so different.

Actually, the financial issue aside, the immediate problem is that the notch for the brake pad sensor is simply not in the right place, and by more than just a little bit.

Perhaps we have different expectations regarding quality. My expectation is that a single sensor notch can be put in the right place on a brand new brake pad manufactured specifically for this car.

I'm glad you had a good experience. However, obviously, there are issues concerning quality of both product and service.

Mine squeak with no apparent common root cause. I am able to reliably eliminate the squeak, usually for weeks at a time, by simply doing what everyone else and I have mentioned above: take her to 60 or so and then brake hard. I usually slow the car hard from 60 to 30, let up and then do it again to a stop.

Does this not work for those of you continually experiencing the squeak?

The notion that anyone's getting a cut is laughable so I'm not even going to respond to your insinuation.

I don't recall ever saying that it's impossible for your brakes not to squeak ... I've simply stated that my brakes don't make any noise. Greer referenced the importance of bedding brakes and I simply agreed as I do this with any pad.

My experience with ACG was a very positive one; I was turned on to them by another forum member FWIW.

The one that should be careful is you with your baseless comments regarding vouching for companies and lower standards.

This is a forum where members share information regarding their experiences with new products, especially on such a new platform. Some may be good, others may be bad which is really the essence of why forums exist in the first place.

If your experience with both the pads and the Company have been bad go ahead and post about it. I suggest you not bash other members who have provided honest feedback and have had good experiences with a product simply because yours has not been.
