Auto-Start-Stop feature - disabled by default?
This is my first BMW in 10 years and the first BMW I've had to have the auto-start-stop fuel-saving feature. Not that I'm complaining but it seems my M5C defaults to having that feature disabled at start-up, or at least remembers the last setting and stays that way. My understanding from previous Audis and other makes was that it was mandated by law that all vehicles that have this feature must have it active by default at start-up. I've had to re-code my previous Audis just to disable this but for some reason, I don't have to do anything for the M5C.
Is it possible that auto-start-stop is disabled during the running-in period prior to the 1200 mile service? Or has there been a change in the law or a technical loophole where BMW was able to have it disabled by default in certain models?

Press the button and it should be disabled permanently going forward.

thanks guys!
I had no idea BMWs were like that in US-spec... in that it remembers the last state of auto-start-stop enable/disable between start ups. On my Audis and Range Rover, you can press the disable button when you start the car, but then then next time you start the car, the auto-start-stop is enabled by default again and you’d have to remember to press the button to disable it again. Both dealerships indicated that this was by design from the manufacturer due to federal regulation or something like that. On the Audis, I had to do an unauthorized re-coding just to make it off by default.

I think the M cars allow for the auto-start stop disablement to stay on. All non-M cars will revert back to auto start stop being enabled when you start the car.

Also, if you are in sport plus it will not auto shutoff.

Was same with F80
F80 remembers if you have it enabled or not between restarts/unlocks etc and so does this beast.
Not sure about it not doing it in Sports Plus... Will check again but I seemed to have had it sleep while stopped once when it was accidentally turned back on. It's normally in Sports Plus but maybe this time it wasn't...
