Baseline Dyno 19 M5 Comp

I was finally able to get my M5 strapped on the dyno to get a baseline run. Couldn't be any happier with the results! I have read over and over again that these are underrated from the factory but damn! Love it!

What does the graph show? What is the difference between the red and blue lines? Aren't dynos relative in that you would use them to compare before and after results?

I was just about to ask the same. What's the difference between the two runs?

You can compare dyno to dyno I believe. You just need to make sure the correction methods are the same. This one references SAE smoothing. If you see another graph with different numbers for the same car it might be using STD smoothing or for some reason be displayed uncorrected. This is the limits of my dyno knowledge though. 😀

Most healthy M5's on good fuel make 650 crank hp. The comp pack adds another 20 to that number.

Smoothing is not SAE or STD; it simply reduces the little peaks and valleys in the graph so it is smoother and easier to read at any point. SAE and STD are measurement corrections to specified temp/air density. STD reads roughly 2.5% higher. Uncorrected is what you actually made — which might be higher on a cold day with dense air and less on a hot and humid day.

Dyno results also vary among brands so comparing results from one brand to another does not always work. The OP simply ran twice on the Dynojet. Each run is close to the other but not identical. This is typical.

The OP did not specify octane, but the results are strong for a stock car so my guess is 93. If he ran 93 mixed with ethanol for E30, the results are probably slightly better than on just 93 even with no tune. Likewise 91 results would likely be slightly lower.

The gear you run in can also have a slight effect due to how gearing loads the engine. And running in AWD might slightly change results due to increased drivetrain loss over running in RWD, though I am not sure you could run in RWD without traction issues.

advertised is crank hp; dyno results are wheel hp. Wheel hp is lower than crank.

Some dyno graphs from other dyno companies are “corrected” to crank hp, but I am not sure how they come up with the additive. Dynojet does not have that feature as far as I know.

Thanks everyone! As people have commented, just ran 2 back to back runs on the dyno in awd dyno mode.

now I really wonder how much my regular m5 makes not comp
but I got 91 and e20 in it with dinan turbo inlets and bmc filters probably my best guess would be like 590 wheel
