How long do pads and rotors normally last?

I know this is dependent on driving but I'm pretty hard on my brakes. Yet, I'm at 45k miles and haven't needed to change them yet.

Is this normal?

If steel brakes, 35-40k-ish miles is about what I'm used to. Assuming it's been in for regular service to a dealer (or your indy), it should be checked periodically, and they should give you a heads up. Can always ask them to check with the next scheduled service, but 40k is not at all unheard of. Pads usually go first, but rotors can go like 60k even with hard use.

Porsche disagrees…

I just had my Rear Pads & Rotors replaced at 17,000 miles. I have the Ultimate Care Plus 1 plan that includes Brake Pads & Rotors. Paid $700 for it at delivery. Just paid for itself and then some.

I had all of my pads and rotors replaced on my F80 at like 30k miles without asking, when I realized I had paid for it when I got the lease. Best $ ever spent

It totally depends on how you drive.

On my M3 CS I had the front pads and rotors replaced at 15,000 miles.

Replaced front pads at 13k miles.

I am currently at 18k miles on the original brake rotors

I'm at 37000 miles and more than half my pads are about 1/2 way. My 2003 RS6 ate pads and rotors MUCH faster than this car.

It also depends on where you live. I live in the Hollywood Hills where there are steep uphills and down portions and brakes and rotors last less in those environments.

I've never seen someone go through rear pads twice as fast as front pads. Do you do a lot of spirited driving with traction control constantly intervening?

Yep, mdm mode always, and very spirited drive, with lots of sharp acceleration and braking. Don't feel the traction control interaction though, very nice car

How low do the rear/front pads have to be replaced by the dealership under the ultimate care plan? I've taken my car to 2 track days and the rear look shot to me

answered. And No need to post in multiple threads the same question. Especially in the same subsection.
