I have been given different time frames by different dealerships as to how long it would take for the car to be on stateside. Some said 6 months, some said 8 months, some said 12 months so I am lost at this point.

Did you place your order to the order bank and wait for an allocation or did you have a dealership with an allocation and were just waiting for BMW to get back to you with the order number? The question might sound dumb so excuse me in advance just trying to figure out how to order one for the first time while trying to avoid being conned to putting a deposit just to wait and be told that there are productions delays by a dealership just because they had other people ahead of me and would not disclose it to me type of situation.
Hey! So I placed my order with one of the two dealers where I live on 10/8/21. I was told it would be approximately six months, but that estimate was subject to delay. My dealer gets 1 to 2 M5 allocations every month usually. I was 3rd in line around mid-November, and to my surprise got my production number in late December.

I'm not sure if someone ahead of me dropped out of line or if my dealer got an extra allocation. Honestly, I don't really care, I'm just happy I got my production number! Unfortunately, I'm currently slated for my build to start the first week of February, so it's most likely I won't actually take delivery of my car until sometime around July is my guess based on what I've read.

I could have shopped around for a dealer with an immediately available allocation, but much as I can't wait to take delivery of one of my dream cars, I'm also perfectly fine waiting to get the exact build that I want.

Of note, my dealer didn't negotiate, but also didn't mark up the price, so I'm paying straight MSRP. Also, my dealer only requested a $1k deposit even though I was willing to put down a 10% deposit.

All in all, assuming I take delivery in July, that's a 10 month timeline from placing the order to taking delivery.

Not sure if any of that helps, but hope it does. Good luck with your search and journey! It's just a shitty time to buy a car, new or used.
Production on February and delivery around july ? I think you may have it wrong !
Mine is scheduled on the 03/11 and the dealer told me that the car will be delivered around May
Will see !

I spoke to the genius line, I'm also build week 5 but where I think you may be incorrect is receiving the car in July. In these times it takes around 8-10 weeks from when your car goes into production to take delivery. I would be on the lookout for a late March/early April delivery date.

That's just my opinion based on friends who have gotten their cars recently and what my SA has discussed with me.

I received my Production Number in June … car arrived to the US 6 months later and has been sitting at Port of Baltimore for 4 weeks waiting on RAM module.

Production Date pushed backed 3 times.

More than 7 months and counting.

The only certainty is uncertainty … and CA's and Genius are just as lost.

I hope your experience is better but this is a complete shit show.

That's kind of what I'm anticipating. Buddy of mine who hangs over on the M3 board (@evil_alien) said from actual start of build to taking delivery was 4.5 months, so that's why I'm figuring July.

I could be wrong but I've heard some delays may bd due to BW sound so I just removed it from my build. BW is a plus but if it could potentially cause a delay I'm not not taking any chances.

I hope you get your car soon. Waiting that long is brutal.

It is but I'm in a 19' M5C so not too big a deal … the part that gets me is just the really poor communication throughout the process.

Definitely feel that. I sold my last car (Audi S5) around the same time I placed my order for my M5 which was around August. I work from home so did t really need a car but we'll probably have to head back into the office around April/May so not having a car isn't an option.

As far as communication, yeah… I've had better experiences lol

Individual Color only. Referenced interior as it added some time to build.

omgmike Congrats on the M5 you are going to love it!

I am in the Austin area as well just moved from KC back in June.

Would you mind sharing who you worked with at BMW SA? looking for someone to cut through the BS and just get a deal done.

My CA is Benjamin Gutierrez, but to be honest I haven't been very impressed with him. I've had a much better experience working directly with the Sales Mgr, Britton Hampton. There is supposed to be an M specialist named Lucas there, but I've never met or spoken with him.

And howdy, damnit!

Hi hope all is well, thank you so much for the response. For some reason my notifications weren't popping up on the mobile app so didn't see this until now.

It makes sense that you have decided to just wait to get the exact car you want and I am glad that you got it sorted out pretty fast. I hope yours went into production with no delays. I saw/heard somewhere that after production it takes 8 weeks for delivery (which is in line with what the other forum member above said).

Please keep us posted love watching the process unfold as time progresses.

(ps. I am working on mine as well, appreciate the wishes)
