If you have the funds I would add Carbon Ceramic Brakes. You will get much better braking performance and your wheels will stay so much cleaner. You will not regret this upgrade if you can do it.

Great choice going with Donington. Sounds like a great build. I have very similar except Tartufo interior and blue calipers. I would go with forged 789M wheels. You are getting the Competition so might as well get the forged wheels.

I can afford the ceramic brakes but have read they're just not worth it if you don't plan on tracking the car much, which I don't plan on doing but maybe once or twice. If that changes I can always add them later at the dealer.
And I plan on quickly swapping out the stock wheels, so I'm not worried about which ones I get from the factory, but I hear what you're saying. |

However, despite what others have said, it seems like a pretty big waste of money to get CCBs just to reduce brake dust. But, to each their own.

The big deal is that the Carbon Ceramic Brakes are 50 lbs lighter and that has a major impact on how the car feels. The handling is so much better with the CCB's and the stopping performance is so much better you won't regret getting them! The fact that you get a cleaner car is a bonus.

You aren't feeling 50lbs of weight savings. And nor are you going to notice handling difference.. please stop the exaggeration. |

It really depends... I drove once with ccb and without on the track back to back and you could tell one was able to handle the bumps and curves a bit better, stopping power aside. The unsprung weight savings is quite noticeable IMO, what steered me away was potentially cracking a 8k rotor... I've heard some horror stories and while I would've loved ccb on a car that I'm keeping until the rust eats it away it's not worth the hassle.

Some people on here have asked if it’s possible to upgrade from steel brakes to CCBs. My question is, can you go back to steel if you have CCB from the factory? Just in case I don’t feel like putting 18k into my 10 yo M5. 🙂 I mean, I’m sure it can be done but what would be involved?

I have owned an F90 M5 with Carbon Ceramic Brakes and one without and there is a noticeable difference in the handling of the 2 cars. On the street the main difference is going to be the better stopping power of the CCB's.

Congratulations OP gotta give it to you the spec you build will come out to be absolutely timeless I think. I see that you are a new member as well, I am trying to figure out how to order one but I cannot find any allocations out here in Southern California. I have been given different time frames by different dealerships as to how long it would take for the car to be on stateside. Some said 6 months, some said 8 months, some said 12 months so I am lost at this point.
Did you place your order to the order bank and wait for an allocation or did you have a dealership with an allocation and were just waiting for BMW to get back to you with the order number? The question might sound dumb so excuse me in advance just trying to figure out how to order one for the first time while trying to avoid being conned to putting a deposit just to wait and be told that there are productions delays by a dealership just because they had other people ahead of me and would not disclose it to me type of situation. |

I have built one out trying to order and my spec is identical with the Tartufo interior and 789M wheels. I was told though Tartufo leather might cause additional 12-14 weeks because of supply chain issues so it might be why OP is going with the Aragon Brown interior, so I switched it to Aragon Brown (Full) as well. Also, something about the 789M wheels makes it look more aggressive in my opinion. For some reason they are hard to come by on cars at dealerships which I don't know why.

I'm not sure if someone ahead of me dropped out of line or if my dealer got an extra allocation. Honestly, I don't really care, I'm just happy I got my production number! Unfortunately, I'm currently slated for my build to start the first week of February, so it's most likely I won't actually take delivery of my car until sometime around July is my guess based on what I've read. I could have shopped around for a dealer with an immediately available allocation, but much as I can't wait to take delivery of one of my dream cars, I'm also perfectly fine waiting to get the exact build that I want. Of note, my dealer didn't negotiate, but also didn't mark up the price, so I'm paying straight MSRP. Also, my dealer only requested a $1k deposit even though I was willing to put down a 10% deposit. All in all, assuming I take delivery in July, that's a 10 month timeline from placing the order to taking delivery. Not sure if any of that helps, but hope it does. Good luck with your search and journey! It's just a shitty time to buy a car, new or used. |

My CA told me fifth week of 2022, so first week of February. I haven't heard anything different since, so hopefully I'm still on track.
