If it makes you feel better, you are not alone. I was in the same position with a '22 M550i order before I cancelled it (told dealership last week that I found another car.)

It kept changing back and forth from "Order Received" to "Scheduled for Production" and back again a few times.

About a month after the order was placed it finally went into "Production Begins" status. It has been in "Production Begins" for almost 3 weeks now without movement.

I sold my 2020 992S back in May and have been driving my wife's Tesla model Y since. I also went to full time work from home during all of this, so it's not like I even need a car (other than taking my kid to school - I almost don't drive at all). Not having a high dollar car this summer has been great - more time to play with other toys! But I am looking forward to taking delivery, hopefully now sometime in mid November.

I'm told we really should be upset with Toyota as they stockpiled microprocessors prior to COVID and thats what has this "chip shortage" out of whack.
Sorry, man! I sold my '18 CTS-V in June and I've been driving either my 2007 XC90 or my wife's F-Pace when she's not in the office. We leased her Jaguar in 12/19 and it sat in our garage for about a year so I/we try to drive it as much as possible. At least my Volvo is a V8 when I need it and it actually is nice not have to worry about where I park, etc all the time.

I also placed an order back in March for the new CT5-V Blackwing and it still hasn't been picked up by GM yet. There are currently constraints on carbon fiber apparently. That's what brought me here, I feel like I'm never going to get the Blackwing and I feel like I just about had one already. Time for something different.

I read over the weekend that Toyota's good fortune regarding their chip supply is about to run out:

https://www.bbc.com/news/business-58266794

I feel like if there are any delays for anything these days it's the chip shortage that's cited as the cause. Except for GM

I saw your comment and just called my CA. My car was week 35 (this week) up until today, now I'm week 37. Only a two week delay.

Week 36 M5C build recently went into "Scheduled for Production" status. I'll report if status reverts back to "Order Received".

My entire process from start to finish - meaning order at the dealership to pickup at dealership - for my '21 M5C was 4 months. Order was in on April 25th and arrived at dealership (Arizona) August 16th. There were a few reverted "status" points throughout and was also held at Port Hueneme outside of LA for about 1.5 weeks. However….it was all worth it. Everyone just has to understand that this is unfortunately the world we live in now - chip shortages, supply chain issues, parts delays. It sucks but everyone opposite of us (dealers, manufacturers, etc) want nothing more than to get our cars to us ASAP.

not to go too off topic, but did you get one of the numbered first 500? what options did you get, as the options increase price starts getting pretty high

I'll be interested to see where your build lands since we are the same build week. I know when I started my search you recommended your CA here in FL. If I recall yours is a pretty high spec individual car as well?

We all keep hearing it's the chips - but i know in our business it's all kinds of basic raw materials (chemicals, etc) - so if for example your car holds and mine has slipped 4 weeks - its probably not the microprocessor shortage (though perhaps individual cars get a higher priority).

I am of the understanding that individual cars dont get a higher priority but just the opposite. They take longer. Dont know why but thats what ive been led to believe. nothing to do with chips. We'll see. Many of us in same situation with week 34,35,36 builds. I am week 35 with an individual car. Waiting to see.

My order has an Individual interior which is listed as Priority 1 on the ordering guide. My CA told me that any car with options listed as Priority 1 get priority. I'm scheduled for week 37 and my car hasn't moved from scheduled (yet). I guess we'll see!

I did not get to reserve one of the first 500. I'm kinda happy that I didn't though, some cars are coming through with issues so far. One check engine light, one guy's passenger door is a different shade of orange than the rest of the car, another got damaged in transport. I optioned mine up pretty good and it came out to somewhere in the $103k range. The gov't also adds a $2100 gas guzzler tax onto that.

My last 3 cars had LS/LT motors and I just feel like I want something different this time around. It's tough to give up the idea of that TR6060 in the Caddy, though.

I will keep you posted brother.

Yes, my car is a well spec'd Individual M5C and I may have put you in touch with my CA at some point.

At this point, I've already extended my lease on my current M5C as I anticipate delays and my lease expires next month.

💯 Individual takes longer on average.

Mine just bounced back to Ordered after being Scheduled for a week. I got the print out from the dealer and no build week is shown now. Great

Still stuck in quality check for me. Been in that status for 3 weeks now. I don’t care just thought it was hilarious it was ripping through production and then gassed out lol. I have my current 19 so it doesn’t matter. Not really even ready to start taking parts off etc.. Hope it shows up around October lol.

My lease is up in December. This is exactly why I ordered a 22’ when an allocation became available. Was worried about getting one at all. Seems a lot of us repeat buyers/owners were concerned with the same thing. I did find out port options could be added now (at least they could be 2 weeks ago when they checked for me again) but I decided I might just swap some stuff over from the current car.

Same here .. will transfer some stuff from current car and already purchased the rest. I did not want to even bother with port-installed options.
