Strange Lines On Climate Control Screen

I have noticed 2 strange lines on my climate control screen, they are only visible from the side, just wondering if that a factory defect, anyone else noticed that?

Looks like a piece of transparent protective tape, see if you can feel an edge on the top part of the screen ?.

the lines are located on the actual LCD screen, not on the protective screen glass.

From the photo, the lines go over the top of the screen as well, which is quite strange, which is why i thought it may be a protective vinyl strip of some sort ?.

I think this is a common issue with the 7 and 5 Series that use the new LCD touch A/C controls.

Dealer will replace them under warranty but the issue might return.

I would rather have this pannel with actual physical buttons, which is offered on the lowest spec 5series, but I assume just swap the parts will most likely not work.

The G30 guys all want the touchscreen, even though they are known to fail as posted here.

All that said, everyone says its plug and play going from real buttons to the touchscreen so going the other direction shouldn't be an issue.

Had mine replaced maybe 18 months ago for the same issue and it's been perfect since.

Just appeared on my 2018 as well. Can only be seen from an angle. Out of factory warranty, time to test my "Platinum" warranty :
