CTS catted downpipes

Anyone have a review on these. Price is inexpensive for a 200cell cat

Good fitment, sound and restricts fuel smell. Expect a check engine light, unless the car is flash tuned

Thanks for info, the smell is main reason I'm looking for a HF catted set up

Can't speak from experience but it states on product page you will need tune to delete CEL.

Thanks for the info. So it is safe to assume we can't pass inspection with those on...

CEL pops up for any Downpipe
If you don't want a tune get mini-spacers will avoid the CEL with Catted or get it tuned

+1 for CTS Catted Downpipes very good for the price indeed!

Fabspeed sells mini cat 02 bung extenders. Others sell cheaper and junkier versions. BM3 sells a tune that simulates the rear 02.

I tried the mini cats and the car ran like garbage. Took them off and it fixed problem.

Strange. I was not aware that secondary 02 readings influenced engine operating parameters. I thought they existed only for emissions verification purposes.

Really don’t know what to say. I installed catless down pipes. Got the cel, added the extension with mini cats and car ran horribly.

It looks like my original information is outdated and that newer generation cars do use the secondary O2 to adjust fuel trims to compensate for changes in cat efficiency.

https://us.autologic.com/news/fuel-t...-faults-part-2

I guess this means any simulation, whether electronic or mechanical has to accurately produce expected stock readings or the fuel mixture may be changed to compensate. What still confuses me is that plenty of people have gone catless and not changed the tune or used any form of secondary O2 simulation and not experienced any problems even though the secondary O2 would be reading significantly differently than before.

Interesting…I just ordered secondaries on the basis of no CEL and no engine issues.

Yes, just doing secondaries gives part of the benefit of removing both sets of cats and has no O2 issues because the secondary O2 monitors the primary cats. It’s easy so most people considering modifying cats go only that far.

Going high flow primary cats and catless secondaries gives probably 2/3 to 3/4 the benefit of removing both sets of cats, but may trigger a CEL. Maybe the really high grade high flow cats like HJS would not trigger a CEL for secondary O2. I don’t know.

Anyone removing even the secondaries, though, should be using a tune and the tune can address the O2 issue if the tuner is willing. Some are not since it is illegal (so is removing the secondary cat or the primary cat or using a high flow primary cat).

I'm 100% decat (upper and lower), cold start is obnoxious, so is the smell.

Just placed an order for a set, will report back. Curious as to what difference 200cel will make.

I installed a set a couple of weeks ago and posted about the install but not driving. I like them. No smell, slightly louder than stock when driving gently, a little louder when driving hard. Some turbo whistle can be heard at low rpm when spooling (too much noise at higher rpm or under more load). Almost certainly a little more power (but not dramatic). CEL will be triggered.

I paired with a BM3 Stage 2 tune. It really moves and there is a little bit of an exhaust snarl when opening it up. Cold start (with cold start delete) is a little uneven and raspier for a few seconds, but not enough to be obnoxious).

If your main goal is loud then I would buy 3” all the way through fully catless pipes. If you want cats for smell and to remove a little pollution, these are the most affordable pipes.

If DIYing, look for my other thread.

Thanks for response. I've read your DIY and seems like an extensive install process and fitment is a bit off. I'm looking into cats for smell and don't want car obnoxious.. appreciate the info

For much easier install, do catless secondaries on the stock primaries. The MAD USA secondaries are an incredible value.
