Racing Brake pad vs Endless MX72s vs Porterfield R4-S
Bimmerforum, I like many of you have just about had it with the dust and squeaking noise. For me, I can put up with the squeaking but the amount of dust has me going crazy. I have to clean my rims every drive if I want them clean.
I am about to install my new rims here soon but don't wish to go through this any longer. I don't track my car and probably won't. There is a 20% chance I might but if I did I wouldn't mind putting the OE pads back on. I have the non-comp version so I technically still have my speed limiter…ya I know. I have seen 3 alternatives online and most all M5 owners have resorted to Porterfield pads. My question to you all is does any one else have experience with Racing Brake or Endless MX72's va Porterfields? This is my fun car, have a Harley and a hybrid I drive daily, so I mainly drive in town, on sprinted back road drives and keep her in the garage. I just want to be sure any pad I chose had great stopping power from 165mph to zero with minimal fade. And safe If I ever decide to track. Minimal dust with good stopping power is my goal. 1. Porterfield RS-4 model #AP2155 and #AP2059 2. Racing Brake PD2155-391A and PD2059-391A 3. Endless MX72 model #MX72-EIP289 and MX72-EIP303. Endless also makes a MX72 PLUS model. Does anyone know the difference. There has been very few cases but I've read scenarios where people running the Porterfield pads and due to the fit, they have experienced a rattle noise when going over bumps or any uneven surfaces. Has anyone experienced this? Open to any feedback or opinions. Thanks.

Hi I have had both porterfield pads and Endless MX72.
Endless MX72 pads much noticeable better with braking and minimal dust. Porterfield are pretty good reduced dust but they bite in two stages. Endless is s just awesome and well worth the money. I loved them for a street car. |

Did you use both on your M5 or other vehicles? Did you experience any fitment issues or "rattles"?

Porter fields initial bite just not as good and requires more brake to slow car down. On my C63 stock pads had a better initial bite. |

I am interested in the Endless brake pads and would like to see what others are experiencing with brake noise when stopping and brake dust build up once the pads get mileage on them. I say this since I already have the Porterfield RS-4 pads with just over 6k miles. When they were new they were quiet and little to no brake dust. Now at just over 6k miles the Porterfield's produce more brake dust then when they were first installed and they are producing noise when coming to a stop. I will say this the Porterfield are no where near as loud as the stock steel pads and produce less brake dust even at the current mileage.

Never heard of the "endless" pads as an option. But would be curious in some hi mileage users of the iSweep i am starting to see being sold at different vendors. I am running the ACG and its the same story as the Porterfields. Also curious how the ECB Redstuff are doing long term.
Either way i find it a bit odd to ask for a pad with great stopping power from 165-0 but expect low dust. Those 2 are on the opposite ends of the spectrum. I would never take low dust (ceramic) pads to the track. You will glaze them up in a heart beat. Low dust for the daily and oem or track pads for the occasional driven if you're ripping through the back roads or taking to the track. YOu're gonna wash the car anyway after any of that i would imagine so the brake dust shouldnt matter as much i would think.

Had a set of EBC Red Stuff on my 19' M5C prior to selling it and the results were great .. bite was very good, no noise and greatly reduced dust.
EBC has a long history of performance with brake pads. Good luck

Probably a dumb question, but if I went with a set of the above recommended pads, would I do both fronts and back? My stock pads still have life left, but they're squealing like crazy.

Just bought a set of red stuff on Amazon. Cheapest price I could find but about $100 overall. Whole set was less than my first low dust set.

My brother has them on my former 19' M5C and so far, so good. Says no noise and little dust after close to 10k miles.

I was thinking about the yellow stuff for my future pad change — stopping is more of a priority for me than low dust or squeaking. Red is ceramic so it should be low dust. Not sure about squeaking but I would think ceramic would squeak less if squeaking is coming from the pad surface in the rotor as opposed to the pad backing plate in the caliper.
As for blue stuff, the last time I looked, the cold bite temp was higher than the green or red or yellow, making me think it was more of a track pad. But there is a new blue stuff ndx formula that may have changed that. Have not read much about it yet. Last edited by pbonsalb; 07-10-2022 at 01:56 AM.. |

I have the yellowstuff on my F82 and I like them a lot. Yes they dust but it is grey instead of the reddish brown OEM pads. They are quiet and hold up better than stock when pushed. The pads are not CCB level like in the wife's M5 but I no longer have brake envy. In the M3/4 forum I heard good things about the bluestuff, something along the lines of yellow but at higher levels. The DOT brake codes for the yellows are GG vs the M4's GF OEM pads.
