In the last 3 weeks my X5 M50I has moved from 40 to 46 to 44 when I asked if they could do anything about it and then I just learned that it is now moved to 49. My M5 which was 40 still does not have a production week assigned after having it removed 3 weeks ago.
Sorry to hear this, very frustrating. I’m still skeptical that mine will get built too so there’s that.

Fingers crossed things improve and atleast one of my cars gets built, preferably the one for my wife first (X5).

They still have no idea why my car went from week 35 to 37, and then all the way to week 44. However they did have her run my production number by the parts purchasing manager and confirmed my car will still get the B&W as ordered. Apparently any orders that were accepted prior to week 35 that had the B&W optioned will get it. My CA said that BMW’s systems that manage vehicle production talk real-time to their suppliers systems. So when new vehicle orders are accepted by BMW the parts to build the cars are automatically ordered.

Given this, here’s my revised best guess of what’s going on with all of our production slots moving around. It sounds like BMW heard from the B&W supplier around week 35 they were having supply issues for new systems being ordered. So BMW pulls the B&W system as an option. But prior orders that already had the B&W system parts allocated to them had to be rescheduled for when the parts are expected to arrive at the factory.
AGS, do you have an update on your build? I just got a notice that B&W would need to be dropped from both my builds, both accepted before week 35. My rep is checking to get confirmation about the notice though as they have not been dropped from my builds yet.

I'll check with my CA and see if there's any update on my car. He's off Fridays, so I'll try him tomorrow morning.

I feel your pain … I've had a Production # since June 12th with my Production Week changing several times.

I now have a confirmed week 45 Production Date but I'm not all that confident that it may not change again.

The fact I already have a 19' M5C has made this 1st world problem more bearable but it has been a trying process to put it mildly.

Do you have B&W on your build?
Oh the days when I had a week 45 production date for the M5.

The chip shortage is what's the cause.

Also, don't be surprised if your M5 does not come with heads up display. The chip shortage has forced BMW to remove it from all cars.

If you ordered your car with Bowers&Wilkins, make sure to check that they didn't remove it from your build, as BMW has also removed that option due to the chip shortage.

I thought all 5 series variants were still getting the HUD still?

I just checked and nowhere in the build does mine show HUD as a feature. I checked my current car and it doesn't show up there either so there may be no way to tell. It doesn't seem like the dealers have a ton of insight on what's happening. I'll pass if the car shows up without HUD.

It still shows as standard feature on bmw usa and I found to different links that say it will not affect any M models and non of the 5 series. I guess we will see.

If HUD is dropped then that is a simple one for me, I would be walking at that point. I did talk to my sales rep who mentioned there were talks about dropping HUD from many vehicles in the near future due to chip shortage. My last 3 BMW's have had HUD, cant spend over 100K on a car and not have HUD personally. If that happens I'll keep the B7 and have to figure out what to do for my wifes X5.

carbuzz and bmwblog both have articles that specifically state that HUD will be available for all the 5 series and its variants. The removal of HUD only applies to specific vehicles. This, according to the articles, should not affect an M5 or X5M

https://carbuzz.com/news/bmw-removes...om-many-models

"However, more premium offerings like the BMW 5 Series retain the head-up display as an option, regardless of what engine or trim the feature is to be added to."

Thanks for sharing, I had read the same thing. It will be dropped from 3 and 4 series but remain in flagship lineup for now.

I put my 2022 Comp order in on Monday (10/11). It was a pre-existing dealer allocation that they were able to modify in time with an original build week of (10/17).

After more order was locked in, MyBMW updated with all of my specs and listed the status as "scheduled for production". Over the week that's slipped back to "order received".

According to My Garage, my M5C flipped back to Scheduled for Production today for the second time. Week 45.

This is becoming like when Lucy holds the football for Charlie Brown and then pulls it away at the last minute.
