I'm seriously disappointed at my dealership. Car arrived there on Friday and my SA tells me it's going to be another a week because "logistics department is backed up" and I opted earlier to get the windows tinted.

Are you getting them tinted at the dealership? I think my dealership wanted around $500 for tint.. the place i've been going to for years charges around 1/2 that cost, and actually does the installs for a few dealerships in their area. lifetime warranty as well.

I'd be disappointed with them as well. My dealership, PDI'd, sent out for tint all the same day and I was out the door by 4:30-5:00. Arrived Wed, had it by Friday.

I would seriously consider other shops for tint. The place I got mine done charged me $150 for the rear side windows and rear window and $60 more if I wanted front windows as well. They guarantee their work for lifetime as well. You being in Toronto, I am sure you can find many cheaper places to get the tint done.

Yeah. In hindsight, I probably shouldn't have agreed to have them tinted at the dealership. But it's a lease and I wanted it done. Probably should have talked the price down too; I think they wanted $500 for it as well. Or something in that range...

Got word that because of delays, having it by tomorrow (Wednesday) is "not possible". So stupid.

The dealer quoted me $700 for tint. Unless it adds 30hp no friggin way. Mind you there is something convenient about it being all done when you pick up the car, it's not $450 convenient.

Yeah that's very true.

Just got informed by the SA that he can have my car by Thursday. If I wanted the windows tinted, it'd be Friday. I told him I'd get it Thursday as he said I could always get them tinted later. Wondering if I should just not tint them at all now...heh.

As others have said you should be able to find a reputable shop that can do the whole job for $250 or so. But with summer coming on I would definitely still tint. Especially with leather. Makes a huge difference in how hot the inside of the car gets. I'll be tinting mine for sure when it comes in. Should be in the next two weeks. Can't wait.

With mine being a leased vehicle though, it's okay to get them tinted aftermarket?

This is my first leased car so sorry if I sound a bit clueless about what I can/can't do.

Tint is no problem nor is adding a clear bra which of course is almost essential in any place with a winter to avoid rock chips and sandblasting.

Congrats a few posts back guys! Really strange that there seems to be a consistency with delays as of late. I haven't been hearing much from my dealer since placing the order for my 235 on March 12. After receiving my production on March 24 number (which I asked for) I kept calling BMW Canada for a VIN which I got on April 5th. Kept checking http://bimmer.work and saw the vehicle went into production on April 13. Afterwards checked https://www.2wglobal.com and finally saw today (April 20) that the vehicle has boarded the port at Bremerhaven and should arrive in Halifax by May 3rd. Still no word on a narrowed down delivery date by my SA. I'm definitely planning on tinting the windows but based on the thread here may lean more towards a shop rather than dealer. I also purchased Black Kidney Grilles (http://m.ebay.ca/itm/111838186760) which arrived in under 2 weeks in case anyone was interested (paid $20 duty on delivery). They look and feel OEM.

Originally SA told me mid May delivery, let's see if everything runs smoothly.

Hi hc6ix, can I ask which dealership you purchased from? I got my production number last week (had to call of course) originally issued April 5th. But when I call BMWCA it doesn't seem to register anything with them. I ordered the car March 12th and still lots of lag between information. I also noticed most of you guys are getting pretty information quicker from M235i orders, mines a 228i does that make a difference on which models get produce first ?

Hi Forzaaddict. Yes, BMW Toronto (Downtown). Little strange that the production number isn't generating a VIN by now. Have you tried reaching back to your SA for a VIN? The reps on the phone told me the SA always has more information than calling BMW Canada. As for whether or not a 228i could take longer than an M235i to produce, I don't know the truth, but I don't see why that could be standard.

We ordered ours through Budds on March 10th, car was produced on March 29th and the car was at the Halifax port April 20th. I've been on the CN site to see if it got loaded.

Nice - did you have a legitimate reason to apply for a CN account? I thought you needed to be shipping stuff through them in order to have an account.

Like I posted earlier, BMW Kingston was able to get my ready, including tint within 48 hours of arriving at the lot. However I had been waiting on it for approx 4 months (2 in Halifax).

If you can't find a good tint location at a reasonable cost, might be worth the drive to Kingston (I noticed you were in the Toronto area). The shop that did mine is probably our best one (and the one BMW Kingston uses). I've had 2 cars tinted from them.
