The red box on the front bumper is a transponder for measuring lap times.

I'm so excited to see this car on the street, wow what a car...
For all those saying the m3/4 sounds "like shit", I'm really wondering if you've heard the car in person extensively. After all of the videos and comments online, I can't explain how worried I was about the sound. After a couple hours driving in it, you realize it isn't what the videos portray. I haven't had one nay-sayer in person thus far, all have been surprised (after the brutal cold start and out of the useless efficient mode) Having said that, I think the m2 will sound even better in person |

Was thinking to myself. Sounds good. Looks kinda good under camo. Then that 1 rolls by at the end and it reminded my self how ugly the 2 is.

I do like the wider back and 19" tire - front view still looks pretty much the same to me. Focal point for front view of a car is the headlight, I am still looking the 2 series headlight. oh well I am still high on my new BMW (Bring More Women - someone told me in Germany..lol) so i am not too keen at looking at M2 yet. |

Totally agree. I was dead set on buying the M performance exhaust before my car even arrived. Well, 3000 miles later, I still haven't bought one. The stock sound is very interesting to me and as you said, nothing like the videos! I'm loving the raspy racing-inspired high notes on higher revs, mixed in with the deep growl down low. Very unique! The f80 exhaust makes a lot more sense now, hearing how the M2 sounds. The worst thing M can do, is make all M cars sounds alike. That would be pretty boring! |

YES, A SMALLER CAR Have you heard of a BMW called the E30 M3 ?! Have you heard of a BMW called the 1 Series M coupe.?! Those are a Couple of relatively successful Small BMWs that aren't faster than an F8x..... I don't know about you, but I am 1 million percent confident that from the moment design began, it really wasn't a goal to make this far " faster than an f8x" . And I'm cool with that ..... |

Agree. Hence, No for sale sign on my 1M. And for the record, if you're thinking it's gonna take a lot to get an M2 down to 1M fighting weight .... I agree |

- ps both our opinions are biased tho. Not trying to get in a flaming war. I like the 2. Almost got one when they came out. Still might. Maybe a M2. But will have to see what's under the camo. Would look good next to the 1.

The only thing so far about the M2 is when it has that Camo, The hips on it looks so bolted on like it was just added to the car nothing else was done for it to look smooth. Cant wait until the camo comes of to see how they refined the lines along the whole car. Just hope it won't look like a 2 series trapped in a larger body.

Gaining nothing? Well, let me explain it. I come from the BMW E30. Have driven it some years, swapped a m52b28 (E36 328i engine), years later swapped a s54b32 CSL engine and loved the whole car because of its size. Two years ago I have been at the ring with my E30 and I parked the car in front of a E92 M3 and I realized, that modern cars are to big to make that fun that the E30 made. Perhaps in the US it doesn't matter because of the big streets you have there but in europe? Do you think its fun to drive a truck sized M4 on the small pass roads in the alps? It doesn't make fun because its huge. Try a E30 M3 / E36 M3 and also a E46 M3 on the same road and they feel amazing because the size fits! Some famous german car magazines like the SPORTAUTO tell the same thing, again and again. The M4 is a great car, but it isn't build for small, lovely roads. And an M has to be build for this roads (my opinion). I can say I have been waiting years for a car like the BMW M2. The 1M Coupe came to the wrong time for me (because of studying etc.) but now ... I know I will love the M2. |
