This press release lists the wheel widths for 20" (missing from the other one) and lists 285s as well.

If 295's are an option and the winter setup is square then that leaves people to try some interesting combos such as 275/35r20 at the front and 325/25r21 if there is enough room in the arches

There's alot of hate on here about the driving dynamics of a car that no one here has actually driven yet.....

Even if the engine isn't "bespoke" and the tranny is a ZF they absolutely will feel different as they've been retuned specifically for this car.

But no aluminum doors, no carbon fiber trunk either. At least the roof is CF as well. But I really can't complain too much. A 4,254lbs weight beats every other competitor except the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V, but the F90 M5 has AWD too which adds weight, so this is quite exceptional, I have to say. The 2018 Mercedes E63S comes in right at 4,400lbs and the new Panamera Turbo is like 4,412lbs. The 2016 Cadillac CTS-V is right at about 4,134lbs I think. Had the F90 M5 been RWD only, I am sure it would have undercut the CT-V's curb weight too.

So really, probably the best things about the F90 M5 are its AWD system and the great reduction in curb weight. This makes it a significant car to beat. This also puts the F90 M5 about 650lbs lighter than a Tesla Model S P100D, which means that once the F90 M5 is aftermarket tuned to levels of power equivalent to the P100D, it will be faster.

Everything else aside here from looks, to the side view mirrors, and them re-using the S63 engine, this reduction in weight is what I believe the greatest accomplishment!! Bravo M Division, Bravo!
Haven't you guys learned your lesson already? BMW and almost every car manufacturer understate the real weight of the car. We went through this already with the release of the M4 when BMW claimed it was in the 3,3xx range but in reality it was in the 3,5xx to 3,6xx range. I wouldn't expect much of a weight difference between this and the F10 with the addition of all wheel drive and an auto transmission.

Agreed. Especially with a value it should really roar when open and be subdued when closed.

Promising specs overall for the M5s intended purpose.

Looking forward to test driving before making any judgments.

Standard 19-inch five-double-spoke cast light-alloy wheels in polished Orbit Grey (front: 9.5x10, rear: 10.5x19)

Thats a tiny wheel upfront compared to the rear!!

Do they even proof read these before they publish??

The only thing I dont' like about it is the base styling of the 5-series. It's boring, and the interior is extremely busy, even if it doesn't look bad. But it does look look better than the previous model.

I am also disappointed that there is nothing hybrid/electric in the engine, at least an electric turbo to help with the lag (which I am sure will be present, they always say it's minimal but it turns out it's not).

Acceleration times are phenomenal. No more problems putting the power down at stop lights I would say it could easily manage another 100hp, but half of this figure is probably reserved for the special edition models to boost slowing sales after a few years.

Also, from the videos it seems to me that the Active Sound is gone. Hopefully !

You're right I should have qualified my statement by saying a gas engine 4000+ lbs 'sedan' can't touch the 0-60 time of a tesla.

Seems to be a polarizing car on the forums

What I still don't understand...

1) Under-tired, 285 in the rear with 600 hp - maybe this is due to AWD now and less traction issues

2) Single piston rear brakes with ceramics - why does BMW continue to do this when the F8X cars have 2 pistons? The calipers look weak imo

3) Is this really a new engine? The were making F10 M5s with 600hp weren't they? Is it really just a little lighter and adding AWD that makes this car new? Oh, and the body shell i guess

4) Matte red?

Things I like:

1) 3.2 0-60. Let's face it, most of these cars won't see serious track time so being able to accelerate in real life driving is FUN

2) Adjustable AWD - better than AWD all the time

3) Seats look comfortable (although they are really not "bucket seats as the ad suggests") and I like the red M1/M2 buttons, makes it less monochrome inside

1/4 mile time?
US Price?
Exhaust note?

Can't wait for comparation test:
new M5, E63 S, RS7 Performance.

I don't like new M5, for me looks like 520d with Mpackage but the same goes to mercedes where E63 looks like 220cdi with AMG package.

Car is fast, 3.4s 0-100 and 7.7s 100-200. not bad for stock saloon car.

Is it just me, what's up with the large outside rear view mirrors, massive and on the ugly side.
The air intake on the front works well, it should being the one used with the M sport trim to make it more aggressive.

Someone can do that themselves at home, or only at the dealer? Funny that no 285/30r20 option at all is listed there. Or is it just a single Michelin tyre that is designed for BMW and has been given different names?

Nah, I think you will beat me to it. I honestly don't see my self getting one until the LCI comes out with the Competition Package, or about 5-7 years from now, which ever comes first I guess. That's if I get it at all. I have other car projects planned that I'd rather spend money on than another M5. The F10 is all I need for now, as I still don't even have a family to put into my family sedan. Lol!

It's the sad reality, but there's something honest and special when a BMW M product lives up to its name and heritage, even if few can appreciate it.
You're spot on. And that's when they'll come out with a "M5 CS". It's all about product diversification for more $$$ now.
