I just looked up my VIN in the Owners section on My BMW. It says no recall. Even though my production was in June of 19’. Strange..

I took my car in per the updated SB and it does need the new part which I just found out is not even made yet.
Best ETA they gave me was Feb but BMW NA then said that may not be possible either.
I have someone, several people who want to take over the lease but BMW FS is blocking it due to the recall...

Exactly what happened to me, good part I was in a parking lot rather than driving it.

My M5 got held up. I haven’t heard how long. I’m assuming at least a month or two. Bummer, never got my car delivered.

My car has been to the dealer three times because of this. First time at the end of October before the recall--dealer said car needed a software update. Five weeks later, car acts up again--all kinds of transmission errors and goes into limp mode. This time they said it was part of the recall and according to the dealer, I received one of the first repair kits (wiring harness, etc.) and supposedly all was good. Car was at the dealer for 3 weeks and just received it last week. Tonight on the way home from work, car acts up again. Really, BMW??? I opened a case to file a complaint with corporate and they haven't gotten back to me after 3 attempts to contact them. Can I lemon this car?

Good grief, that's horrible. What a massive cost to BMW, in more ways than one. Yet more ///M engine problems in a seemingly endless line of them.

F8X M3/4 are absolute outliers in regards to ///M reliability. Other than the lottery shot spun crank hub, the damned things are tanks. Did BMW ///M division really design them?

I wasn't aware the "kits" were out yet. Do you mind sharing the part number they put on your service order for the repair?
I have been pretty successful with contacting BMW NA, keep trying.

I don't have them with me, but in an updated service bulletin posted earlier in this thread the part numbers are there along with a description of the remediation procedure. There is also an interim fix that can be done as well which is included in the bulletin.

The fix is to reinsulate the wiring and slightly reroute the slack of the transmission wire harness. There is no lit, all that's needed is a butt connector and some heat shrink and some wire harness tape.

Definitely

You could be road sided if it happens that the wires exposed themselves. It happened to me

They kept my car over the weekend because I didn't have the parts.. gave me a loaner M340i. While it was fun to drive Let's say I'm glad to be back in the M5C. I got the vibe of cost cutting in some of the interior parts (hard plastics).

Did they have to order parts for this transmission recall? or was it just relocating the wires ?
