What's the different between "M Mode" and the "M1" and "M2" buttons?

do i always hate change? not really.

bmw can't push out the same style body and expect customers to purchase the exact same thing but a newer version.

bmw need to update their styles, i get it and it makes sense to them.

the pr department is going to market this as the "new bmw" !!!.. and i'm sure it's going to work for them. everyone is going to be partial to the current gen or their own model due to familiarity and for good reason.

now, back to the "updated" headlights. that's where it bothers me. c'mon bmw. really?! it went from the regular round/halo/angel eyes to icon light to this L light design?...the design keeps changing and loses its familiarity as a "bmw". too many led light changes in such a short period of time. not a fan of this at all.

i'm sure the g80 m3 will have the icon and then switch out lci to the L lights too. blah!

Front is meh to me, but I might give the rear tails a go at retrofitting. Euro lci tails could be cool.

That makes sense. Thanks for the explanation!
Wish the US would finally amend their outdated regulations...

Looks better than what the future may hold with floor to hood kidney grills in the next model.

Yep but it's worded different in a few places so can't tell if there will be beige leather like you can get in the M8 or just black with the beige inserts.

damn what happened to bmw. Theyre getting worse and worse with each generation. The car looks completely bland and dull. I dont see anything appealing whatsoever about this car. The engine doesn't even sound good. I cant wait to see BMWs designers get fired. Even a camry looks better than this car. smdh.

Well, at least it has a good stance and not a 4x4.

For all of those complaining about how outdated the car you just bought is, welcome to consumer economics.
Everyone out there, on their cheap leases, changing cars every 2 or 3 years like they are disposable and this is what you get. They have to keep pumping new designs constantly to keep the short attention span people interested.

I have checked on BMW's parts catalogue and my M5 comes with the later 8HP76 gearbox and was built on the 3rd Sept 19 so I guess all later M5's have this gearbox.

All in all, not a huge update, and inline with the rest of the G30 LCI.
I think the graphic is wrong as the LCI M5 has not been fitted with the later brake system.

The perfect amount of newness for an LCI. Some people will never be satisfied with anything BMW does... I pity them.

I think it looks ok. The headlights are meh and the front bumper I am not entirely sure on..

But the new kidneys I like, the rear lights I like.

For me it's more about the tech, and I do wish mine had the new dash display and iDrive. Who knows how long my current iDrive will stay updated by BMW. I also wouldn't kick the M8 Comp suspension out of bed, if it is better.

If I could swap mine out for the new one at $0 or even a few grand I would, but it's a series of nice small changes that certainly don't justify giving my current M5 comp up, at least not for me.

I might... MIGHT.. call my sales lady and throw a hypothetical situation at her though

So the official launch color is Aventurine Red, which is indeed available to order... But the actual reveal and half of the included pictures are of the brighter/more striking Imola Red, which is not among the available paint options... unless you go special Individual order ($5000?). Very unusual bait and switch tactics which I've never before seen from BMW. Is this an attempt to divert the latest Audi RS6 buyers given that bright red is the iconic Audi RS color?

Hockey stick headlights are a fail for me. They now are not “BMW” identifiable. I think the current look may be more aggressive looking???? Red calipers are so 15 years ago looking and pedestrian. Why the current M5 didn’t get laser lights in 2019 is a mystery. That would have completed the modern look/function. M5 guys should keep your current models. IMO.
