$150-250 for just the inner light that cracked. I was looking at OEM ones from junk yards. ECS sells them for $275, have to assume it is OEM if it comes from ECS.

Maybe I did over tighten them, but no luck with warranty, I got them from the forum.

Do the LCI lights have any brake force display feature like the non-LCI lights had? This is where on US cars, the area of the brake light changes depending on how hard you brake.

Does anyone know what happens if you “exceed the allowable short circuit resets” caused by LCI tail lights?

Are they permanently disabled? I am curious since this issue is common with US spec LCI tail lights.

Hello guys.

I will retrofit EU spec taillights next weekend and I was wondering..

I saw official documentation that you need to move wires from inner lights to BDC. However, I also saw that someone just taps that wire into outer brake light. What is the difference here? Are pins in BDC empty or you also taps into existing wire in BDC?

You can do either and they accomplish the same. If you run from the BDC, the terminals are empty and there is a schematic in this thread on which to use at the BDC and where they go on the inner connector. If you use the jump method, you will run a wire from an empty pin location on the inner connector to the outer tail and spice into one of the wires. All documented in this very long thread.

Now a few months later, my right turn signal is hyper flashing. Tried the battery trick, nothing. Guess i'll reach out to Vic to have him take a look one night this week. If he can't fix it, then i'll be looking to replace on eBay.

Yeah, I have definitely seen more issues with US lights losing coding or faulting over time. Maybe something to do with the welcome light errors even if disabled?

Ya what always surprised me is that it doesn’t result in a bulb out dash light. Just rapid blinker. I remember when I was having issues awhile back where the inner tail lights weren’t even on and I didn’t know until my dad happened to be behind me one evening and he brought it up when we got to our destination.

EDIT: coding done, and error counter reset. Honestly i need to figure out how to do this myself. it took vic 30 sec.

Been a while since I've looked at these. I'm back into an M5 now and looking to do the conversion. When I had the M550i, I installed one of the first aftermarket ones. While they worked fine, I'll try to stick with OEM for the M5.

Question (without reading 37 pages) - has the "pinning" become easier? I noticed ebay has retrofit harnesses now. Do these eliminate the need to manually pin anything?

So a few days ago I experienced the rapid blinker on the driver rear outer taillight, it wouldn't even come on, I figured the connector came unplugged so I left it alone that day until I had more patience and time to take the damn thing apart again to check, days past and I forgot all about it, but when remember again the issue was gone, no rapid blinker and all lights working as expected. Should reach out to Vic and ask?

Are you running US or Euro lights? Just trying to keep track of things.

Personally, if all is working fine, I would wait to see if it returns.
