No way I would lose a scheduled race to a N/A M3.

Why?

Because if it's a scheduled race I'd know to fill up on 100 octane gasoline

It happens on all forums and platforms. My favorite project car was my little regular 2.3 port injected 2006 Mazda3. All of my friends had supras, sti's, evo's, vr4's, a viper, a porsche turbo and me in my little 132whp mazda3 so I got to wrenching and put a 35r on it, built the bottom and top in my town home parking lot during grad school, straight cut billet gears in my trans, and a full standalone from haltech (e6x then e8 for the throwbackers!!). Every day I got phone calls and emails from people asking what I did, how I did it, would I tune them, etc. I would say maybe 200 of those in 1.5 years. Of what I can remember only TWO every followed up and fabbed or purchased turbo kits. Nothing like 550whp in a 2900lb car. Once the Quaife went in it could ALMOST stay in its lane at WOT onset from the tq steer lol. 100% rice and a blast to drive.

Over under on people taking their stock n54 straight to single-turbo. IMO, waste of money -- Was at VAC yesterday and they are cooking up some mean shit for the N54

Gonna start saving my pennies

I think you're overestimating the weight difference. IS300 GAINS weight when undergoing a GTE swap (the V160 transmission is VERY heavy too). The VVTI version of the 2JZ is a bit lighter for various reasons. A '600whp' IS300 would be a pretty good race for a 630-650whp 335i.

You'll never know
I often let young guys to win for letting them to enhance their self-esteem. They care about who is quicker in a race and I feel good about letting them win, so everybody wins and the world becomes a better place
(my sarcasm detector is currently in for repairs) ... do you actually do that? :-)

Doesnt take a single on an N54 car to beat the M3. The little stock twins do it quite handily all the time.

You may be right, but the guy was/is a member of these boards. We were all checking out each other's engine's and the car did appear 100% stock. This "stock" M3 ran turb0mike (it was pretty close with Mike putting a car length on him from the vids) - so maybe Mike can recall whether it truly was 100% stock or not. But running a FBO Meth gutted 335 at 2,300 ft elevation (4,000+ DA's) and staying with him, whether stock or barely stock, was a great showing for the M3.

But quite a bit of s54's blew badly, but i think hpf did their part to fix the motors, so kudos to them after all. are you doubting this? if so i could gladly show you a thread compiled of the info.
I was looking at going the HPF route and just thought it was funny you mentioned the motor blowing since last weekend I was at PIR and saw Chris blow the headgasket on the new HPF drag car. Still HPF is a great company and the turbo kits are a good platform.

Go read their single-turbo fail on the N54 and you may think otherwise.

Kansas is only one state and no west kansas is hilly as hell. I got 28 MPG over 800 miles from Kansas to Michigan.

Good stuff.

if they start financing the turbo kits like with the e46's, we're going to see a lot of college kids in severe debt.
