Here are the two tiny stone chips on my current windshield (soon to be replaced with windshield number 3) that quickly spread across half the windshield (within minutes) so I was unable to get to a glass shop in time to get them fixed before they cracked! Very frustrating

I have countless impacts on my windshield, but no cracks for the time being (keeping my fingers crossed).
I had the same issue with my F85 X5M and years ago, with my E70 X5. The glass seems to be crazily soft. |

The 2nd windshield cracked only 3 weeks after being installed, no warranty. That was really frustrating. Fingers crossed, the 3rd windshield has not cracked yet after 3 months.

that sucks; my insurance windshields are not subject to a deductible for cracks/chips

You guys have wheel insurance but no coverage for chips... Where I live it is the opposite, I have insurance for crack/chip windshield but nothing for wheels. |

I actually wish my windshield would crack already. Have about 4-5 small nicks from rocks but not true cracks. That's so annoying. Insurance would cover the replacement at BMW (not Safelite) and no deductible so I may have to get "creative"... JK!

This is all great information. I will be sure to have Clearplex installed when I get mine! I'm used to it because with 911s they too have really soft windshields. With those it's more the height and angle.

Seemingly proper thin! I'm on my 3rd windshield in my '19 f90. Never had this issue this often in any car, nor any M car and this is my 4th M car.

Bluehorseshoe When you said you use Clearplex for your windshield protection, how clear does it remain on the windshield?
How long will it last before you need to replace it from scratches? Do you get scratches from the wiper, making night visibility create star effect with headlights from cars in the other direction? |
