Were you bullied by CCB's as a youth? All kidding aside, have you owned an M5 with CCB's?

It's honestly a very petty reason. I hate the color, and for the price, you should be able to not only pick a color but have each caliper custom painted with an image of your dog. If price were no object, I'd (probably) get them and get them painted/coated, but it's just a lot. Plus, I do plan on owning the vehicle a long time and don't like that sword hanging over me. I didn't mind the dust on my 2019 and actually never had squeal. For Grey Black (the color of the new one), the brake dust will match the paint even better. They just aren't something I could mentally reconcile the cost. But people love them so much, I felt steel was under-represented and thus founded the first ever "CCB Haters Club of North America." We're small, with only one member, but we believe in our mission.

Yes, the steel brakes for the first 4K to 6K miles will not make much noise, then watch out. I'm just here to say that you were warned.......

I'm right around those marks. Hope it doesn't happen to me with the (I think) "new" pads. My pre-LCI was squealing by the time my mileage was in the mid to high hundreds.

FWIW in the manual:
General information That's pretty much what I've always done in both V's and text above pretty accurately describes the behavior I've observed. And like the M5's the Brembo pads generate a ton of dust. I fully expect my nice red front calipers on the M5 to be black in no time. Oddly my wife's previous BMW (07 E90 335i w/sport package) had even dustier pads. But I would image the wheel design plays a part in accumulation. |

Even besides being quieter, the Carbon Ceramic brakes give better stopping power and performance and minimum brake dust so you have clean wheels most of the time.

I already put 6100 miles on my '23 with steel brakes and I have no noise. But the break dust is insane and I wash her weekly. I should of had my wheels ceramic coated.

Not OP, but I just settled up yesterday. They gave me December's rates. January's rates are higher (I don't know exact). I financed 72-month at 5.49%. BMWFS wanted to give me 6.49% due to "insufficient credit history." It is the dumbest thing that someone without debt yet has plenty of "credit history" gets the runaround *trying* to go into debt.
I also sought out USAA and Navy Federal as options for alternative financing and was completely turned off by both. USAA's process was wholly impersonal, and in the end they offered me a pittance of $65k... also due to "insufficient credit history." Nevermind I've had another M5 financed before. Nevermind the mortgages I've had. I didn't even call them to discuss it. Everything with them was through messages on their site. USAA's loan process was terrible but still better than Navy Federal. Navy Federal flagged me as fraudulent within the first few hours of setting up my account, locking me out of everything. In addition to applying for the loan, my plan was to move all my finances there since they offer business checking (USAA doesn't have business checking). So just because I had credit freezes when I applied, they flagged me as fraudulent, forcing to go through an appeals process that could take weeks. Funny thing is, when I called them to just close everything out, I was legit enough for them to send me a cashier's check for the deposit I made to establish the account. TL;DR USAA and Navy Federal can lick my balls. I don't have any less colorful way to put it. Sorry. BMWFS was there all along with open arms. Last edited by nerdogray; 01-25-2023 at 02:08 PM.. |

I just got a few grand off MSRP. I plan to see if I can get a deal on a warranty when I buy (I'd need a pretty steep discount to consider it worth it). If not no big deal since I don't feel like most warranties will cover the time frame I more worried about.
I don't want tint/etching/PPF/nitrogen/etc. PS. so far checking on my order status multiple times a day hasn't sped things up. |

I'm at production begins and a VIN has been assigned. I assume my build week it still March 9 though. But nice to see progress. And all the options I've selected are listed now. |
