Interior, fit and finish worse than Chevy. Even a Kia is better made. Musk's priority was grabbing market share quickly so he wanted fast production with minimal attention to detail. It shows in the product and will be Tesla's biggest problem as more EV's come to market from the big boys that know how to mass produce well made cars.

Welcome back! Nice write up. A friend of mine did the opposite. He went from a M5C to the plaid model S. He says some of the same issues with the Plaid. He also said customer service is really bad. But he seems to love his purchase.

Why I would NEVER buy a Tesla
#1. I had to do some body work on my BMW and took it to an authorized BMW mechanic (BMW collision). I have a friend who works the front desk (mind you, this was also a certified Tesla mechanic). Do you know the longest wait time to get your Tesla fixed?
TWO YEARS!!!!! Which is the average, my friend told me. Elon is so concerned with producing as many cars to make himself richer. Maybe if he started to make more replacement parts, I would consider a TESLA, but I have ridden in one NOT IMPRESSED. #2 I'm not too fond of Elon Musk |

The government here in the US loves to push these EVs once they get enough takers that's when they will explain that there is a need for a mileage based tax, after all they are not going to let that gas tax revenue just disappear.

Until it starts affecting their sales why would they change? Plenty of tree huggers in CA to fill his pocket and he's taking advantage of it. The guy is incredible and provided something at a large scale that no other car maker could and still doesn't. Don't complain about it. Just buy something else. Besides there would still be no where to charge these electric cars without him. The government sure wasn't making that happen.

I think build quality needs to go massively go up and practicality over stupid gimmicks need to go up.
I.e. yoke, big ass touchscreen, self driving capabilities... its all bullshit... can we just make a car? Its going to be interesting how the I7 compared but when BMW makes steps forward, I think things will change for Tesla.

Nice write up. I'm with you on the crazy lack of buttons. Good thing BMW is going to essentially this with ID8. I don't know anyone that thinks its a good idea or how it got through beta testers. As much as I love new tech I'm happy I'm getting 2 new cars that still have iD7 with BUTTONS. And its hard once you have a HUD to go HUDless.

For the most part, the op's comments about tesla is dead on. But my 2022 MSP didn't have all of his issues. "Knock on wood". Tesla does not have the bmw quality, that's for sure. I purchased it for the speed and EV charging knowing that there will be flaws in the build. That's why I kept my f85 around.
I plan to update the f85 to the f95 in the future but still keep the Plaid. The blistering speed >> then the flaws of the Plaid. At least it was for me as I didn't have the same issues as the OP 🤪 On a good note, I have similar tire sizes on the Plaid as on the X5M. 295/30/21 & 325/30/21. |

My friend had an RS5 with the V8. He traded it in some years ago to get a Tesla since it made sense, little kids, electric, etc. i told him to keep the RS5, he would regret it. He has been actively scouring the internet for many months now to purchase another used RS5 with similar specs he had.
To each their own - we have the choice as consumers. I voted with my wallet and have been in the M camp since my e36 M3 (used at that time since that was all I could afford). I will wait this out for now. |

Exhaust/engine sound is important rather people want to admit it or not. When you spend 6 figures on performance car that makes almost no sound you are losing part of the fun. My boss recently almost bought a plaid over a M8. The M8 is plenty fast and the pops/bangs are addictive.

Agree about the yoke. It's the dumbest thing ever.
