Go and try the M seats and adjust the bolster inwards and see how they fit. If they are no good the standard seats will be worse.

I got the VIN for the car without the M seats and it doesn't look like it has the cooling and bigger brakes. https://bimmer.work/vin/87608597148c...c89f3/options/ Is it possible to do a seat swap? |

OP is based in the U.S though. But that aside, I wouldn’t entirely trust the type of tire to make that call; OP should insist on getting the VIN to run a CARFAX report on the vehicle and to pull up all the features via VIN decoder - this is standard for any sale. Otherwise the seller should be able to provide all this info to OP.

OK, here are two examples.
This one came with run flats but has M Technology Pack https://bimmer.work/vin/86c59d8c39bc...6ba3d/options/ This one came with PS4s but doesn't have M Technology Pack. https://bimmer.work/vin/87608597148c...c89f3/options/ VIN must be the only way to go. Is the M Technology Pack worth it? |

It depends in which part of the world you are.
In Europe with M technology package you get: -bigger front brake calipers -bigger front rotors (374mm instead standard 348mm) -more powerful brake booster (same part number like M performance one) -extra front side radiators (next to brake cooling holes) -bigger main radiator -more powerful fan for main radiator (600W instead 500W) In Europe I get on mine M340i 19" 793 Individual rims with RFT Pirelli P zero summer tires from factory. Speed limiter is set to 262 km/h ~ 162 mph |

Thank you for confirming. That sounds like the same as here in Australia. It's impossible to tell from photos of an M340i has it. The M240i is easier because it has the wheel arch extensions, but I want an M340i. So far a VIN check is the only sure way to tell.

Indeed, but even worse - that's on the speedo too, which is quite the scam from BMW's side as it's not as advertised. Theoretically, a far less powerful car but with the proper 162 mph GPS top speed can easily pass you on the Autobahn.

They did not list the larger rotors, calipers, radiator, fan, and are not very descriptive on the oil cooler. I have to imagine if they clearly listed everything they would sell a lot more of these packages. |

I have checked in BMW ETK (Part catalog) to see which parts are for M technology package. Motorsport Engineering package is the same option, just different name: |

I wish it was clearer to tell just by looking at it from the outside/pictures. The M240i has the extended arches, that's how you can tell. But with the M340i it's really hard to tell from pictures. Makes searching the classifieds difficult. If it was tied in with the red brake callipers, that'd make sense but you can have those without the Tech Pack.

In the US cars, that extra radiator is standard (i.e. "hot climate" version), and it shows it standard in the parts catalog. Here in the US the extra cooling capacity is the added downward facing oil cooler and the main cooling fan is a bit more powerful. The front brakes are larger, and it comes with 792 wheels with PS4S (8" front, 8.5" rear) plus the top speed limiter is raised. Also included is the adaptive M suspension option.
I ordered our 2024 M340i without this package since it's not going to see track usage (have an M3 and M2C also), but I specifically didn't want the exposed oil cooler on this car...exposed to road debris damage. If you do get the package, consider getting one of the aftermarket shields designed to protect it from damage. There are numerous threads in other forums on the subject (F8x M2/3/4 and G8x M cars all have the issue) including one from someone who on the drive home in their new G87 M2 had road debris damage the oil cooler and oil drained out rapidly, engine ruined, insurance totaled the car. My F87 M2C oil cooler (same downward facing design) has numerous dings in the fins, and I recently carefully removed a large screw that had been thrown up and wedged itself into the fins (thankfully no leaking!). I've had the car since it was new, and it has 20k miles on it, but I'm now looking into getting one of the aftermarket shields to better protect it. Rounding out our M340i build, I did order the staggered 792 wheels which also added the raised top speed, but it came with Bridgestone runflat summer tires in the same sizes as the PS4S. I also ordered the adaptive M suspension.

Is anyone aware if the cooler is exposed like that with this package in the EU as well? On the above images, seems like it is. Which scares me a bit.

The oil cooler in the motorsport package for the M340i sits horizontally with its bottom side facing the ground as I mentioned above -- identical placement as seen in a number M cars of the F and G generations. They are susceptible to road debris damage and are not in any way well protected; hence, there are numerous aftermarket solutions for adding oil cooler protection on the Fx and Gx M cars. I don't know how adaptable those are to the G20, but I'm guessing they will fit perhaps with a bit of minor work.

Even if you managed to get a protector on, wouldn't you suffocate it? Hell, my car is already produced and I just started feeling a little off. So the EU package suffers from the same potential issue as the US spec?
I wanted the sport tires, so spending another 200 euro seemed like an absolute no-brainer for the bigger brakes... The road to my folks is quite messed up and a bit off-roady with tons of little stones and gravel. Now I'm not sure if I'll be able to visit them anymore |

It should be possible to use some basic grid material like this link to create a shield that will at least add some helpful protection.
