What are the odds? -Photos-
As I was getting out my car, my knee hit something and it sounded like a gunshot. I knew it came from my car and I hurried to look around to find out what it was. I find out it was this....
I must have gotten in and out this car like 100s of times. Like honestly what are the odds? I couldn't have just made a mark with my shoe on the door? I removed the cover plate that is above the pedals but there was possibly no way that I could fit my hand to push the knob back into place. Also the funny thing was I had came back from the dealership. -.- But is there anyway to fix this? Can I do it myself? Should I bring it to a shop? Or should I use pliers and pull it out? |

I think you can just pull it out
It's designed to collapse in during an accident if your knee hits it.. or something.

Try a pair of channel locks, but put a towel on the turn knob to prevent putting teeth marks in it.

I've also heard it is designed to do that and should pull back into place. If it is wedged (you're an over achiever aren't you) then you might have to remove the trim panel and pull the switch out. There are several DIY's on "Rear Fog Lamps" or "Euro Light Switch" that show you how to remove the trim and access the switch module.

I did that the first week I had the car. It just pops right back out.

+1 for looking up the rear foglight install in the DIY section. It will show you how to remove that entire piece so you can push it back out if pulling on it won't work.
