State Referee
I got a ticketed yesterday for tints and for my intake..
Fuckin CHP and LAPD pulled me over in front on the LA convension center. That area was a trap because of the DUB car show.. Fuckers took a shit load of pictures of my car... Do you guys know if the injen intake is CARB legal? I got to go to the state ref on friday...

Not uncommon, they used to post up after HIN several years back.
If your intake is not CARB legal, just revert back to stock and you're done. If it is, just put on the CARB sticker on your intake and you're good to go. If you don't know if it's CARB legal or not, call the company that made the intake. |

According the CARB website ( you can search for companies that have done the Executive order process to get certifications) injen is not CARB legal/compliant.
http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermk...es/amquery.php just search that site by manufacturers and you can see injen last updated items in 2004. just swap back to stock. It sucks because now you are tagged for Smog Only Stations when you have to smog you car Last edited by lookylookitzadam; 03-23-2009 at 08:22 PM.. Reason: bad link |

damn that sucks... be thankful you don't have any other major mods on the ride... the intake should be easy to swap out.. so yeah just put the stock on back on and it will be just like a fix it ticket.
would be a bitch if you had full exhaust and what not

Whoa... cops must really be behind on their quotas. If you don't have a CARB # for the intake then it is a 5 minute swap plus 30 minutes wasted at a state ref. When I went with a different vehicle these guys literally tore up half of my car's upholstery to check for hidden modifications.

I was going slow.. I made a right turn and he was chillin just waiting for me.. he tried to get me for my dinan exhaust, but I bull-shit'd him and told him that it was from BMW.. When he asked me if I had any mods to the engine, I told him no. That is when he wanted to see under the hood. I opened it and he looked around a bit and didn't really see anything. His buddy came up and made a comment about the intake pipe looking really expensive. That is when the cop wrote me up... They are pretty lame, a bunch of bicycle cops rolled up. i heard them talking about how it is carshow season and how a bunch of them will be working overtime at up coming events...

Rich, i am in same situation.
I was at HIN today, got pulled over because Dinan exhaust. Cop knows about Dinan but he stilll says its aftermarket mod. I need to go to State referee Certification. What should I do? is it illegal to have it? Actually I bought this car From BMW Mountain View and I am the second owner for this car. The first owner changed to dinan exhaust. Should i go talk to Dealer or Dinan??? Please Help |

If its carb legal contact the manufacturer. They will have to have their EO (executive order) numbers and statements issued by C.A.R.B. on file and will provide you with them. Then just take that paper work to the ref station and show them that the paperwork and the numbers on your parts match and your good to go. You can also look the numbers up by company on the link i posted above.
