Star Mark / MO collaboration tires

Hi all,

My new to me pre LCI comp was just fitted with new P Zeros on the front before I collected it from the dealer. They are the right size, but on closer inspection, they are both star marked and MO marked. The sidewalls seem to have more bulge to them than the rear sidewalls do, which is why I had a closer look.

Couple of questions - this car is new to me so I don't know what's normal re the difference in sidewall profile between front and rear tires. The rears are star marked only, and have a slight stretched look. The fronts are the opposite. Is this normal, or should the front tyre profile mirror that of the rear?

I have read the collab marked tires are more generic than the pure star marked, but still satisfy BMW requirements. Wondering if the M5 original P Zeros had anything different about them than these ones in terms of construction/ sidewalls profile.

Thanks.

Interesting, first time I’ve seen a tire be both Star BMW and MO Mercedes certified, but Tire Rack confirms it. Section width on both tires is the same according to TR. It’s very common for the Star BMW to have a stretched look (like your rears) but the generic version of the tire, and maybe MO, are more square. Obviously the preference is to have the Star BMW always but in your case it’s not worth addressing unless it really bugs you.

You could be me….a few weeks after I purchase my car I noticed that someone put a 275/35 PZero Star BMW RUN FLAT. Just one side! Someone screwed up at the tire shop.
