24 XM5: M1= exactly what the car defaults to stock. M2 is everything cranked except the suspension which stays in comfort, and it is sequential.
The reason I went that way is because of ASS. I started with what you get when you start the car, and would drive most of the time in that configuration. Then M2 as described above, and M1 in a place about halfway between the two. It turned out I never used M1 in that setup. I like the way the car drives right out of the box for normal city driving, so I was invariably either there or in M2, where the fun occurs. For that reason, I switched M1 out of the intermediate one I originally had it on, and just mirrored the default setup. I hit that while I'm backing out of the drive. I switch to M2 whenever I want to have fun. When I leave M2 instead of kicking it out to the default setup, I switch back to M1 which mirrors the default setup. This prevents the car from re-enabling ASS when leaving M mode, which does occur when you disable ASS from the console button. That really POed me. |

Yes, but that thread lacks exact detail in terms of all of the settings for each M1 and M2 configuration-lots of generalities.
It would be nice to have some idea of what people are using through their driving experience. Otherwise I will of course figure it out myself. Thank you for your input and have a good evening! |

In my three cars, they’re all the same.
M1: Sport+/full power everything with MDM and D2 for the autos. M2: Sport+/full power everything, TC off and S3 for the autos. I got them all set up the same so it’s universal and fun. M1 is still safe with MDM on easy to drive with the trans in D2. Auto rev match still works with the manual too. M2 enables Launch Control because TC is off and the trans is in S3 (except in the manual M2C).

My process for a 2020 X5MC
Warm up driving - everything in its default setting Once the oil temps reaches the middle I toggle into M1 or M2 M1 Engine Sport Trans D2 Steering Comfort Brakes - Sport M2 Engine Sport+ Trans D3 Steering Comfort Brakes Sport I'm usually in M2 mode because i like my drive to be as engaging/responsive as possible. I would occasionally flip back to M1 if the roads are crappy or stuck in traffic. Alan
